It's an SP1, damn near 30 years old, mint with maybe 100 rounds through it.

I'm a happy camper. Time to go to the range. Lucky to get one of these in such nice shape considering I'm Canadian. Damn nice rifle.

Naw, it's in too good of shape IMHO to deck out. I'll keep it original.

I've got a Norinco AR15 Clone (CQ311) one the way (SP1 with forward assist) that I may play with more... but the colt is gonna stay all original.

BTW-The Norinco is an extremely rare beast. Only about 500 made and possibly none in the US due to the Chinese weapon ban. Nice rifle.. funiture is a little funky but still nice.

We just learned in Criminal law class how those, albiet illegally, can be changed into an M16 🙂

M16 is just the US Army's designation for an AR15. Same rifle except the M16 variant is select fire (IE: not just semi auto).

Depending on the vintage to change it to auto can be either hard or easy. Depends on the lower receiver.

Nice, the SP1 lacks the forward assist, what twist rate barrel did you get? I think the std. GI is 1 in 7.

She is a beaut. The only thing that I am slightly disapointed with is the mag it came with. It's not the orginial and not nearly as nice as the rest of the rifle... but it's so clean, you could almost believe it has never done anything than test firing. Chrome bore barrel and the whole 9 yards. Beautiful weapon.
