money is tight as it is and i find out that my insurance isnt' covering for it...crapbag.

then i get home and find out there's a $170 electric/gas bill on my desk.

on top of things, books are gonna be around $400 this quarter. man, i need some mary jane...

Yea, that could have been bad. Yes its going to cost money $$ to get the glass replaced, but look at thte bright side, you're alive. 😉

I fvcking hate sh*t on the bloody highway. The other day I was cruising along at 65 and the truck in front of me changed lanes. Well, guess who gets to ram full on into a bag full of cardboard? That's right! Luckily only a few scrapes on the bumper and the plastic shield underneath the engine bay needed another clip.

I realize that was an accident by the idiot who dropped it from their car, but I've also seen somebody on the highway throw out an empty pop can.

The stats on junk on the highway are that it causes tons of accidents and fatalities every year. Secure your crap, people!

Holy crap! Thank the lord for safety glass. I've had a few chips (not even 1/1000th of the size of that) from tailgating big rigs 🙂 I don't do that anymore.

Damn, you must have jumped out of your skin when that ... whatever came flying at you. Sorry about your windshield.

Damn, you're lucky! Looks like it was going straight for your head!

yeah i was, i looked at it closely when i took the picts and it actually cracked through. funny thing was it wasn't scary at all, guess it happened too quick. i was just pissed, i scanned the area and just saw a ford f250 w/ a backload of crap but i couldn't run him down. chips of glass was all over me. when i got home there were a few pieces stuck on my calf and thigh (was wearing shorts)

Oh yeah - I saw that show on discovery about extreme whatever it is, and a guy was on the highway and a disc like piece of metal from something shot through his window and shaved off the very top of his head. He was fine in the end (although he was scalped, I believe). If it had of been a few inches lower...DEAD!!!!!!

Were you following a dump truck by any chance? Rocks always blow out of them.

Also big trucks can throw rocks up from their tires.

Heh, I have that gen car, but if I said the same thing people would say I'm biased because I own the car 😛

91 LX with ~167k miles (5 speed)

you have a car,and you do not have Full glass coverage?

it costs me like an extra $11 a year per vehicle.

check with Diamond/Triumph auto glass they are reasonable.

I bought a new winshield early this year, and it was like $200 installed, for my 40 year old car.

I paid for it myself, the windshield was just scratched bad.

there is no way (and i'm guessing) that you'd have full coverage on that car...

that sucks. shop around, go to a junkyard - hopefully you can find one and do install yourself, or have someone do it for cheap.

If you pay $11 a year "per vehicle" then I can only assume you have 2 cars. Thus you pay $22 a year for glass coverage, which means you must stastically think you'll need more than 1 windshield every 9 years to break even?? (assuming your windshield only costs $200)

Sounds like you might want to think about that $11 a year...

PS: In Florida, I _think_ the state mandates that all insurance companies give you windshield coverage with a $0 deductable... but making claims against it can in theory cost you in the long run.

That camera makes some good pics. I can see how well you have things organized in your garage. (through the broken windshield...LOL)

Glad you weren't hurt,
Jeff

Comprehensive will take care of it, though (fortunately) window replacements are relatively cheap so your deductable may be more than the entire price of the replacement.

well that sucks, but be glad it hit the glass and not the metal, and that it didn't go through the glass. You HAVE ot get that fixed especially if you do a lot of highway driving.
