This time he is not exaggerating.

I am presently outside of Detroit and what he saw happen in Chicago also happened out here. This weekend, I went over to Westerm Michigan and the price jump was there also.

This AM, a station that was at 4.14 on Fri was 4.04 today.

the jump happened to those areas that are "affected" by the problem in the pipeline last week.

Typical price speculation until the situation is known and stabilized. then it will slowly drop down when the overall problem has been eliminated.
Your statement doesn't support his; given that almost everything he's said in this thread has been documented as a lie I simply don't believe a thing he says about gas prices, especially when they are directly refuted by chicagogasprices.com, which don't say anything about his 30 cent jumps.

Gas dropped from $3.89 to $3.79 over the weekend, and then to $3.77 this morning and to $3.69 this evening (before Kroger discounts - currently up to $1.00 per gallon depending on your Kroger points).

OK - so the diesels have been in the lead. Heck I was working on those things for Cummins 10 years ago for their diesels.

Yeah, Ecoboost is really just Direction Injection (DI) on gas, and turbocharging...plus the software controls to go along with it. It's nothing radical really, except for the level of integration Ford has been able to pull off, and well, it's happening in Ford and will be in the NA market. Diesel has been doing this forever now.

As for seeing small diesels offered by Ford in the US market anytime soon, don't bet on it. Ford Exec's have tied themselves to Ecoboost as the 'Way Forward' in NA for higher fuel economy, at least for the near-medium turn. Bringing in their EU diesels to the US market to have the diesels embarrass the Ecoboost offerings, which would then bring serious questions on why Ford just didn't do that back in 2008 for the 2009 models when ULSD was mandated to be used in the US, and therefore destroy every other manufacturer on MPG's while actually having the service dept's to service them (when they'd actually need servicing), something no other US manufacturer could really do, would be too painful for them to answer.

And so, Ecoboost/Egoboost is what we'll get instead...

Gas went up another 10 cents here today to $4.79

I think Obama should declare a state of Emergency and get gas supplies shipped here to the Midwest. The tanks must be empty and a dollar more than the rest of the country and climbing fast.

Apparently all the refineries in the area went down at the same time according to the Refinery report.

Why is this piece of shit allowed to lie continually?

And prices down in MA for the fourth straight week.

Why on Earth would we want to protect Chicago from the effects of it's own policies?

Your link shows lows of $4.12, but also highs of $4.69. Considering that by far not all Chicago stations are reported, it's not too hard to imagine that some parts of town are predominantly at $4.79. I know I've seen that in Chattanooga, where some parts of town are higher than the high prices quoted on the Internet. (I don't buy gas at those stations, but I have seen it.)

What policies?

I have people like him on ignore but why do they allow such vile personal attacks?

Didn't Chattanooga have a couple of stations taken out by the recent twisters? Has that area begun to recover? My daughters house is only 20 mins from there on the other side of the entrance to Cloudland Canyon Park.

Per dmcowen gas is up 10 cents or 30 cents or another 20 cents over and over with his math it should be $10/gallon at least in Chicago now.

Chigacogasprices.com prices are down from yesterday, of course.

And using his "man on the street" experience is certainly worthless, because in every thread he posts in people are making fun of various lies he's brought up in the past and inability to prove anything, so web sites are all we have.

Gas is down .40$ in the last 4 weeks here in Minnesota.

I will be in Chicago downtown Monday and Tuesday of next week. Which station would you like me to look at Dave?

The moron could easily, sign-up to the chicagogasprices.com website and report his delusional gas prices but I'm sure someone else would soon quickly correct his prices or his account would be banned(which should be done here) for making-up false gas stations and gas prices.

For starters:

Irving Park & Pulaski

Elston & Addison

For the first one, its the Shell station at 4000 North Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL 60641-2455....price for regular unleaded now is $4.59.

for the second one, its the Shell at 4346 North Western Avenue, Chicago, IL...price for regular unleaded is $4.59.

No where near the highest in Chicago.

Fuckin liar. Anyway, it certainly isnt the $4.79 he said it was yesterday.

You must have called just after they dropped it 60 cents after the $4 run-up they had last night. I know, the math doesn't work out even still, but math never matters to dmcowen.

He's set us all on his ignore list so he can troll more effectively.

Looks like Georgians have money to throw away these days

6-7-2011

http://www.csnews.com/top-story-geo...o_14.5_cents_per_gallon_next_month-58856.html

Georgia to Raise Gas Tax to 14.5 Cents Per Gallon Next Month

Gas taxes in Georgia will rise for the second time in two months in July, WSB-TV reported.

The state's 4 percent fuel tax rose 3 cents last month. In July, the tax will rise to 14.5 cents per gallon.

The state always refigures the tax twice a year during January and July.

The tax can also be reconfigured if gas prices undergo a dramatic price swing, either up or down, according to the report.

Georgia's gas tax has risen significantly since 2009. The tax was 8 cents two years ago, and has spiked 80 percent since then.

GM's CEO thinks you should pay more for gas

The only way you will finally buy that more fuel efficient car and give up the big SUV is for the Federal Government to make gas prices higher by raising taxes. At least, that's what the President of General Motors thinks.
In an interview with the Detroit news, GM CEO Dan Akerson says he wants the federal gas tax boosted as much as $1 a gallon.

A government-imposed tax hike, Akerson believes, will prompt more people to buy small cars and do more good for the environment than forcing automakers to comply with higher gas-mileage standards.

"You know what I'd rather have them do — this will make my Republican friends puke — as gas is going to go down here now, we ought to just slap a 50-cent or a dollar tax on a gallon of gas," Akerson said.

"People will start buying more Cruzes and they will start buying less Suburbans." he said in the interview.

Bet the local stations raise their prices by at least 10 cents today.

Only 20 cents to reach $5 once again so looks like will be back over $5 here in Chicago by the weekend.

OPEC holds output quota, shooting up oil prices

OPEC held its oil output quota at a crucial meeting here on Wednesday, in a decision which sent crude prices shooting higher on global markets.

"There is enough supply in the market, there is no shortage whatsoever, even in the absence of one country, but ... we are not in crisis at at this time," said El-Badri, refering to the troubles in Libya.

The next meeting will be in mid-December in Vienna to reassess the oil market situation.

He's right, if you want the domestic policy to motivate people to buy smaller then raise the taxes.
He's saying he'd rather have that than mandated CAFE legislation because they sell a ton of trucks, and to get the fleet avg down they have to sell a ton of cars which is hard to do when fuel is cheap.

At some point we will get an alternative, you cant blame the prices, we will pay whatever we can for it. Companies struggling to compete for our wallet will have to figure out a way to get some $$$$, no clue how that could happen, maybe a brand new company producing solely electric cars or whatever. When we start forkng over $4.00 constitently for a gallon of gas, suddenly alternatives are now financially appealing
