Got braces today...

They feel bad at all. Then again, I think the painful part is yet to come when they put the strip of metal connecting all the brackets. Though, they said that getting the spaces and brackets was the hardest part, I don't feel pain there yet for 4 hours or so. Am I missing something?

I can't chew gum anymore, not that I really ever did, I just like to complain.

I had them for over two years then for another two years a few years later. I never really minded them.

The PAIN comes in right after an adjustment, but it goes away after a day. The REAL PAIN is if you get head gear to wear at night. O M G that was freakin horrible. I couldn't sleep with it on as it was slowly prying my jaw wider and if I wasn't a bad boy and left it on all night every one of my teeth hurt like hell in the morning.

Of course after nearly half a decade of braces I never bothered wearing my retainer and have some crooked teeth now, so, whatever.

Im getting mine off in a month 😀! Anyway if it hurts really bad ice it.. Its yogurt and food like that for the next couple of days after they wire them, but in a few weeks you wont even notice them. Have Fun! Also go with the clear color bands, anything else is real tacky IMO.

It'll hurt tommorow morning. And when you try to eat something. And when they tighten them for the first time. Believe me, you're in the easy part right now.

bwahahahaha, you just wait. I hope you get double bands on both sides. 🙂

It seems like it's been so long since I had braces...wow.

Both sides of the teeth or top and bottom? I get it on the top and bottom.... *sigh*

I can't wait till tomorrow morning, hehe 😉

Yeah the tightening is a terrible time. And the retainers that follow are no fun either. They get annoying quick.

If you think that's pain you're not really suited for any dangerous occupations.

The pain will come. I got them on like in May, and I was like, "So when does the pain come?" And my doctor was like, "Just wait until tomorrow."

Very true, so much pain with headgear at first but I've gotten pretty used to it by now, even though somtimes it's really uncomfortable to sleep with it on. I got my braces tightened today and it's probably going to get all sore tonight...

btw, grey bands are the best unless you want to look really stupid with every other color which stand out (don't get clear ones because they sometimes tend to turn yellow.)

O yeah, I had braces as well. First day or two is nothing. However when those teeth start to move with-in your gums just be ready to eat soft food for a few days. Then just when you thought you got used to the pain, they stick you with those little rubber bands.

If you want an example of the pain you will go through in the next 2-7 days, push down with moderate force on your two front teeth for about 30 secs. Now just imagine that for 2-7 days.

my most painful experience was when they jammed the spacers into my molars :Q
then comes every time after the tightening

glad they're off now, but still wear the retainers about 2-3 times a week, the two front teeth still have that memory effect.

yeah it's not the things they glue onto your teeth that hurt, it's when they slap in the wire and tighten the motherfvcker.

and then they like to talk mouldings every now and again and you bite down on this soft pink sh1t for 30 seconds and if they do it wrong and leave it in for too long it hardens and hurts like hell when they pry it out with 5005553 lbs of force.

then there's the bitching and whining on their part that you're not brushing enough for their liking.

then there's the retainer part, which i never wore because it was a PITA.

When I had mine, they gave me some wax to put on and cover the pointy surfaces. I recommend against it because when it comes off, it hurts anyway. I had a sore from where it would rub, but it went away and then it never came back. Good luck man, I've been there

Crap.... I don't want it to hurt in the morning. I have two tests tomorrow in Etymology, of over 200 words and like 50 roots and prefixes, followed by a chapter test in Driver's Ed. CRAP! This truly is a PITA! I didn't think it would be this bad. I'll eat food tonight in anticipation of not being able to eat easily tomorrow even though I'll have rice for lunch... *sigh*

Well, the good side is only 729 more days to go till this bad boys come off! Bah!

Hah! Why would you expect it to hurt with no wire moving you teeth around? All you got was brackets glued to you teeth. They will cut into your gums though.
