To be honest, I had no clue what was coming and I got my spacers as well, I think their pain will kick in tomorrow morning.... I don't want to sleep now, hehe ;)

Braces sucked

The cool thing for me was that after every tightening I got to go to Wendy's for some chili and a frosty

Good luck time will fly by for you

This is why we have drugs. Now, which ones you pick...that's the kicker. :)

i have had them on both parts of mouth for most of my life i could remember, the spacers, the rubberbands, the mettle, i did not wear my head gear, the asprin, the pain, the misery, but once its over you will have the best teethe on campest. mine turned out great but my orthodonist died of cancer before he could finish mine. wonder if the cancer he got had anything to do with him getting close to my mouth?

mmmmm braces
that sucks, I hatd them. Had them for about 3 years. First the spacers -- hurt somewhat, annoying
then a palletal (sp?) expander - expanded the roof of my mouth, had to crank it every night--annoying
then the braces themselves --sukz0r...adjustments = *ow* (I heard after I got them off that if you take advil/ibuprofen for 2 successive days before you get the adjustment, the swelling will be down so less pain when they do adjust the braces)
rubberbands -- fvck rubberbands..in the end, I had them going from bottom to top to bottom to top to bottom to top to bottom...hurt like a mofo. Putting them on is a b!tch too.
now I have my retainer..got boring after a while..doesn't hurt too much unless I don't wear it for a while and then jam it back in for a while

Oh, and it'll hurt tomorrow. If not tomorrow, definitely teh next day. You can count on that :)

Pepsi90919, lmao! You hit the target. I remember those moldings and how they made me gag. I puked all over the bib they gave me. That oozy pink stuff just slowly sliding down my throat... AHHHHHh.

I got them in Feb. Basically, it depends on how they start as to when the pain starts. They are currently moving some teeth back for me to fill in a space where 2 teeth used to be (one on each side). It started hurting really bad around midnight (I got them at around 1 in the afternoon) and I couldn't chew for about a week. Now it's not so bad. You get used to it.

I got them about 2 years ago.. as time goes on things get less painful. I've still got a lot of large gaps to pull together and every tightening still hurts a tad. It used to be really bad... couldn't bite through anything or tear anything with my teeth because of the pain. Just like XZero describes above. I mainly had wire to realign my teeth spacing and angle. Tightening and adding thicker wire... kicked my @$$!

I still have some gaps left by shifting teeth and it's over 2 years with them on now. Sucks... eating is an absolute PITA because everything gets stuck in your braces and the gaps left by missing teeth.

I sang in a band when I got braces but gave up because I had so much trouble properly enunciating and singing with braces in the way. People think I'm a friggin college freshman or something because of my braces.

Anyway the real pain is the HeadGear (thats i never wore) and the Rubber Bands (Them Either) and the .22 Thick ass wire, when that put that on you'll be crying to yo mommy.

i wore those torture devices for six freaking years. SIX. "three years is all you need." my a$$.

anyways, the tightening is what kills you. I also HATED wearing those stupid rubber bands, which graduated to neck gear at night. UGH. when i was younger i got the colored bands but as i got older i started getting more toned down colors.

UGH i remember when they wouldn't cut the wire short enough and it started poking into my gums! EWWWW. oh and i loved how my brackets would always randomly pop off.

i wore the retainer for over a year. i've sooooooooo stopped since then which isn't good but i don't think i can even find that thing anymore. oh well. they've moved slightly but its NOWHERE near as bad as when i was little and first got the braces. my teeth are still really straight. great 4k investment. woo. hehe.

No headgear for me, and I only have to wear it for 2 years. Tuesday I go and get the wire. The spacers hurt a little and I had to have soft food but they didn't hurt that much.
