Got a Public Urination Ticket

Hey ATOT, I got a public urination ticket in Chicago on Friday night. A little backstory, I was waiting to get in a bar and I really had to go, so I went out to a somewhat secluded area and got caught there.

Anyways, I was hoping someone could shed some light on the process from here. I gotta appear for an administrative hearing and the fine will be somewhere between 100-500 dollars.

Just wondering what I need to do, should I consult a lawyer or is that excessive. Should I plead guilty/not guilty or no contest?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Some additional info the exact code is 8-4-081 meaning

"Any person who urinates or defecates on the public way, or on any outdoor public property, or on any outdoor private property, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not less than $100.00 nor more than $500.00, or incarcerated for no less than five days and no more than ten days, or both fined and incarcerated. This ordinance shall not apply to use of a temporary or permanent structure or enclosure erected outdoors for use as a toilet facility."

Illinois is not one of the states where I have to register as a sex offender. THANK GOD.

It is my first offense/ticket regarding anything.

just plead guilty, probably erase the charge and just give you a fine

Back in 2004, a co-worker got caught doing the same thing. He mentioned that he might be placed on the Sex Offenders list. I don't know if that was a legitimate concern but you should look in to that possibility.

Should be higher. My first house's garage backed up to parking lots for three bars, across the alley.

Fuckwads always thought it'd be ok to piss into my back yard/onto my garage because it was "somewhat secluded". Also constantly had beer bottles/cans thrown into the yard, even though there was a dumpster RIGHT THERE.
 
OP is screwed now. You'll never be able to get a job because you're now in the sex offender database.
 
Just show up for the hearing, they'll likely toss it out. I got a cell phone ticket, which before they changed the rules was the same exact ticket you probably got (I saw public urination as a fine on there). I showed up, spent 30 seconds in the room and they tossed it out, no fine.

Same city fyi.
 
I got caught once..officer was pretty cool about it. I live in San Diego and had the option of going to an environmental class and then doing some beach clean-up work to clear my name but I was out of town that weekend so I had to pay the fine and it's on my record =/

Just be thankful (I'm guessing) that you don't live in a state where public urination = indecent exposure = you get put on a sex offender's list.

It's a house. People live in them. That said, given what I've seen of your comments over the years, I'm not surprised you think that way. I'm glad you're not my neighbor.

I don't piss on people's things or ignore dumpsters when I have things to throw away. I can't say I was shocked to see any of it, but that doesn't make it any less douchey for people to act that way.
 
Get a lawyer asap, I had one last year and since then they changed the law to where you can be put on a sex offender list.

EDIT: Also in Chicago haha.

About a decade ago a buddy and I took a piss in an alley in downtown Minneapolis. The police walked by looked at us and just laughed.
