Got a new personal best for leg night tonight.

Got 335 for both deadlift and squat.

Goal is 405 for each by year's end.

Just an old fart patting himself on the back. 😛

Great job. Wish I was up there. Been getting up to 265, but now I have an issue in my right hip. Not sure what's going on.

Stretches for Piriformis muscle and Iliotibial band helped a lot with hip pain for my left side. Takes a long time to finally get those loosened up, but it's such a relief when you get there.

Nice job from another old man (sub-Master's). I'm around the same area as you and just hit my PR on Tuesday after an annoying lower back pull about 3 weeks ago (somehow healed superfast during rehab). Legs aren't my strong point though, I'm hoping to get around 500 in each to have a semi-decent powerlifting total. One thing that added about 40 lbs to my squat were the Rogue Do-Win 3/4" shoes. Not a lot but I noticed a difference over Chucks that I use for deads.

Last night was a good night, up to:

Squat 385
Deadlift 365

Squats are first on leg night, deadlifts are last on leg night which I think explains the disparity.

Yeah, the guy who pushes me at the gym wants to be at the big four in 2-4weeks.

Great job, OP! That's +50 on squats and +30 on deads in 1 month! That's awesome!

I have to credit the guy above for pushing me into it. Couple of weeks ago I got the 335, and he told me that often, at that point you could throw on more weight and pop it right up. I had struggled with the 335, so he bet me $1 a pound that he could put another 10 on each side and I could do it. Went up no problem, so he has been pushing me to move up weight every week, even just one rep, but keep moving up.

Keep in mind that for strength training you don't want to do 1rep maxes every week. That's asking for a lot of trouble... try mixing it up with reps at 70% 1Rep max and save the wear and tear on your system. What weight class are you?
