You can kill them via asphyxiation. This is safe for the electronics. Find a local dry ice supplier and obtain a cake of several pounds. Put the notebook in a large cooler and far from the dry ice. You want to use as large of a cooler as possible - even a large fridge/freezer as the smaller it is the colder the notebook will become. You don't want it getting too cold (< -30C) or that could do damage! Also important! NEVER seal it airtight! Dry ice is CO2 in solid form and its sublimation pressure is > 1070 psig! A sealed cooler becomes a bomb at that point so you want to vent it. Once the CO2 displaces all the breathable air for a few hours ANYTHING inside is dead. So this will kill mice in an A/C unit, for example. This trick is popular for boaters/RVrs etc. that come back after layup and find all sorts of critters onboard and do NOT want to retain the services of a PCO charging over a thousand dollars to Vikane it.
