Enjoy OSX!

That's really the main reason I got it..

I like WinXP, and it does work well for me. But it's nice to have something different for a change.

Exactly.

CANNOT beat being paid, and getting the FREE Mini.

So far so good.

ThinLizzy - Thanks for the tips.

Keep em' coming.

Any other must have apps?

Another must have app is DiskWarrior. This app is great for your hard drive. I was getting a buffer underrun protection error from burning cd's under iTunes. It basically ruined my cd's. After running DiskWarrior, never had that problem ever again. But, DiskWarrior does just a few things, which is just rebuilding the directory and recovering lost files and data.

TechTool Pro 4 is not really a must have, but is pretty cool. It has all kinds of optimization features for the finder, the HD and also does defragging, although its not very necessary since OS X defrags itself on the fly. 🙂 TechTool also allows to make a backup boot drive, just in case something goes wrong with your regular boot HD.

Isn't bragging about getting a free Mac Mini kind of akin to bragging about getting a free 8086-based PC? 😀 😛 🙂

I have a Dell 2005fpw (4 USB ) and a Apple Keyboard (2 USB )

So it's not that big of a deal.

I would prefer two ram slots instead,

😛

You can always sell your 512 meg stick & get a 1gig stick. 😉

You got screwed. You painted for 4 days and only got Mac Mini? You know how much painters charge for commercial job? I can guarantee you that if they had contracted that job out it would have cost lot more than a Mini. Probably along the line of a loaded Powerbook easily.

But if you're happy and they're happy I guess that's good trade. 🙂 Enjoy your Mini.

Still underpaid unless he gets paid around $50-100 hour.

lol wtf does this have to do with the thread? He said he got paid hourly AND got a Mac Mini? If he got paid even close to that then great.

I think the avg. of my pay + the free mini came out to about $25 and hour, for the hours I painted.. ( I didn't paint day and night.. 😉 )

Either way, I'm sure professionals would have charged more, but I'm not a professional painter..

Paint job did come out nice though.

Well, I really didn't know if it would make a difference for what I am doing.. After using iDVD; iPhoto and a little entourage, that memory gets sucked up quick. Performance stays solid as well.

I might have to grab one..

I think i snagged a 1GB stick of Generic PC 3200 (Cas2.5-4-4-7)

Is there any KNOWN ram compatability problems?

$65 shipped seems good to me!

😀

As long as the RAM is backwards compatible with PC 2700, then it will work fine. 🙂

I was under the impression all ram that was 3200 is backwards compatable?

I know some older PC133 is not to PC 100, but most new modules were..

Nice desk...

Thanks!

🙂
