IGN.comActivision has a slight downer for fans of demon-slaying: DOOM 3 for the Xbox and the DOOM 3 PC expansion have both been pushed back to the company's fiscal 2006, which would mean April at the earliest. While neither title had received a solid date, Xbox gamers in particular have been eager for id Software's hot FPS sequel.

I believe yesterday they announced that it wouldn't be available until the next fiscal quarter, April-June.Originally posted by: apoppin
oh yeah, the eXpansion pak: doom iii: resurrection of [an] evil [game] . . . . if you can stand the crap gameplay, the gfx should be improved and it is out this month.
I played D3 for a few hours... I can't seem to bring myself to spend any more time on it. *shrugs*Originally posted by: apoppin

But then again, I found the same with Painkiller. I think I'm three levels in, and I've all but totally lost interest. What do you like so much about it?

EQ2 will bring a single 6800U to it's knees at high res and full settings....but at 1280x1024 or 1024x768, I imagine it would run quite smoothly. I only say this, as I have a x800XT, play(ed) EQ2, on my LCD 1600x1200, and had to go to medium settings for it to be smooth....

Hello,
I just got a new PC, AMD 64 3500+, ASUS 8AV motherboard, 1GB dual channel PC3200 memory, and a 6800 Ultra 256 MB card. I was surprised that Riddick was such a demanding application. I thought it was more demanding than Doom 3, Half Life 2, and Far Cry. I tried turning down the texture quality some, but it sure is a resource hog. Is there something else I need to turn down? All the other games run great. How's Painkiller, it got scathing reviews but I read good things here about it?
Sincerely,
Hans

PK (so far) is just walk into a huge room, kill an onslaught of bad guys, walk through an entrance into another large room... Lather, rinse, repeat. No tactics needed to take out the bad guys, just shoot at them as they come towards you. (I actually found it very easy to sit on one side of a doorway, and blast them as they follow each other through like sheep.) It's pretty much Serious Sam in a different environment. The repetition is what's making me lose interest already.Originally posted by: apoppin
PK has a "fun" element not present in Doom iii. PK is also NOT repetetive (Doom iii is just like playing the "same" dark cramped level; PK's levels are really different from each other), the gameplay is excellent, the weapons are well-balanced (and there is no goddamned PDA to take you away from the game) . . . . HOWEVER, PK is definitely a "horror" game (like doom iii) . . . . you may not like this type of gory game. 😉
