Got a 145MPH ride in a Camaro today

I see nothing wrong with testing top speeds on a deserted stretch of road. The only one you're going to hurt is yourself, and there isn't even much chance of that.

I have to agree with part of that statement...my Nissan Altima has done 130, no big feat, got it on GPS.
I rode in a rental car (Mitsubishi Diamante) at 130mph for over 45 minutes coming home from New Jersey....before I get and ribbing'
there was a Cadillac Escalade in front of me...and I couldnt catch him. 🙂

I always find it funny how people judge the value of a car on its top speed, most ANY car will do triple digits nowadays.

agreed...but i wouldn't like doing it in a Ford...and i would NEVER do it with an alignment that isn't 100% perfect (fine. 99%)...i used to go faster and have fun driving, but now my back tire is messed up, and no alignment place has fixed it properly...*sigh*. gonna be another few weeks before it's fixed

if you get a camaro ur not gonna be under the speed limt all the time..well if you do then you are just stupid...

just like people who like to overclock their comps.... they want to see how far they can push it...(its nice when you can get it operating at a certain high point)...

if they drive it a car at 145 at 5 o clock on a city road then that is messed up... but they didd'nt.

Think about it for a second.

100 Mph in modern cars isn't much at all. They practically love it.

110 is a short step and things get pretty quick, you're looking much farther down the road now.

120 is movin but the wind is starting to settle the car

130 is just another 1000 rpm, focused now, loose grip on the steering wheel and let the car drive.

140 going fast now

150 better slow down.

There are stretches of interstate where it is entirely possible and practical to go faster than that. I was close to 190 myself on some of them. Thrilling? Hell yes! Dangerous? Only if the tires went, but I mine are rated for that. All depends on conditions, driver/rider and vehicle.

The 200 size tire is about $180, and the 120 front about $115. There is a link on the page for Michelin, and you can look up info on the HPX tires.

Oh yeah, I was that Hayabusarider guy (or still am I suppose) and the busa is what I ride.

Dangerous, ya, probably, but I'd be a hypocrite if I said that I've never taken my 2000 Camaro SS to it's governor limit at 155. Sure is fast and fun. And, I don't think that you weighed it down....my car was still pulling strong when the governor cut in.

I didn't know about the governor, but it seemed like the car had another 10mph or so if we had had enough road 😉
