this is very bad news for bush. :(

just heard on cnn that the vote-a-matic machines that are having all the "under"vote problems are almost exclusively used in democratic-heavy counties. in republican-rich counties, other voting methods were used, which led to very few undervotes.

in other words, gore is totally going to get enough votes. PLUS the fl. SC will overturn the absentee ballot cases as well

<< While I agree that if the Republicans were the ones who needed votes, they would be trying to find some legal way to get more votes counted, I don't believe they would have taken it this far. >>

Uhh, what makes you say that? They've gone as far as impeaching the president to prepare for this election, and you are telling me they would stop short of something if they smelled blood?

You know what? Bush supporters whine about how Gore is trying to steal the election that he rightfully lost, blah blah....you know what? Bush got less votes. He rightfully should have lost. So what are you crying about? If Bush had gotten more votes but less electoral votes, I bet he'd sure want to find a way to get the needed eletoral votes.

Man, this waste of time has to end. I hope OJ kills someone else so the media has something better to focus on than this garbage. It's gone on way too long. Too much money has been wasted on Gore grasping at straws.

Not according to our Constitution.

Or did you forget that minor detail?

I think the recount if done will go for Gore. Most Republican votes were counted initially because republican counties have better voting machines, and also smaller counties have an easier job of counting.

Judging from some posts, it's obvious that some people want Gore at all costs, even if it means lying, cheating and stealing to get it.

Before any Gore fans start screaming about Bush going to court, remember, he's only gone to court to force the activist, make-it-up-as-it-suits-our-needs judges to OBEY THE LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOK, not MAKE NEW LAWS as they want, just to keep Gore in the game.

Gore has lost EVERY case he's brought except for the FLSC. Seven Democrats on the Court. How convenient. I think they were gonna go 4-3 AGAINST Gore until the bogus absentee ballots went against them and then one switched to keep Gore alive.

Pathetic.

If they recounted all the Broward County and Miami-Dade County votes that were already manually counted under the same standard as PBC, Bush will win.

Allowing the existing manual counts to stand will create two standards for manual counts (or three, four, etc.) and this will casue the Federal Supreme Court to step in.

The 11th court of appeals may step in as well.

I'm interested in who is going to be doing the counting. All will have to be sorn in as agents of the court. Just the logistics will take a few days, especially since a weekend is just about to start.

I think all these undervotes should have been manually counted using a fair standard from the very beginning.

Since the election will still be under contest by 12/12, the Florida House and Senate will appoint the electors.

<< Gore may steal it yet... >>

Hopefully, now we will have a much better idea of who got the most votes over the WHOLE state.

Remember it was Bush's own witness, in the "contest" court case just last weekend, that said you should manually recount in close elections....

If Gore wins now, he'll have a huge chunk of the nation (including many democrats) very unhappy with him. In this day and age, he'll probably get shot at a few times.... :| :(

Viper GTS, you're right, I know that, but if Bush had gotten more votes but wasn't going to win, he'd be thinking up stupid ideas like this too.

I'm sure youi are right, that there will be time slotted for arguements in the USSC in regards to this ruling,as that is the only place that the Bush lawyers can go too for relief. Remember, when the USSC sent this back to Florida,it asked for the FSC to explain why and how and to wit what authority it drew its conclusions to rule in favor of Al Gore in the first place. If that where still an issue with the Spremes in Florida,I don't think we would have heard this verdict. I could be wrong,I'm not a lawyer. It just sounds like common sense to view it in that light.

Lest anyone be confused, I don't care who gets the whitehouse. They are both brain dead lame duck candidates with no mandate from the people to govern. I favor Gore on the issue of womens right to choose. Aside from that,Gore and Bush are twin evil politicians seeking a spot to boost thier pathetic egos. It is amusing to me to watch the talking heads on the tv news, and to participate in OT with the many various opinionated souls who frequent here. I hold no antimosity towards any on this board who express thier views. I find it healthy for people here to express with passion their ideals on all aspects of this and other topics. It is the difference between us and slug slime. You have a brain, use it. You have a keyboard, tell us what you think, and we can engage in dialog that hopefully will benifit both of us.

Bush would NEVER have gone to these lengths if the situation was reversed. Bush has a day job and a big stack of comic books to keep him entertained.

Gore's life is OVER if he can't complete this theft. He's dead meat for a run in 2004 (The Year of Hillary!) and he's got nothing left to do with his pathetic meaningless life. What's he gonna do? Get a job on a corporate board? Teach tree-spiking? His whole life has been built around being a ruler, and if he fails this scam, he may as well put the gun in his mouth, cuz Tipper's not gonna put up with him sitting around the house all day in his underwear.

The "federal courts" have dismissed the same case, but not on the merits of the case, but because Bush hasn't been "harmed". He has now, and expect the 11th circut to take the case back up, Monday or Tuesday.

Can someone explain to me why the recount matters if the SOS has already certified the votes? Didn't the court say she didn't have to use the count since it was past the court deadline when they turned them in?

Explain?????

Good question FettsBabe. If they want, they can recount the votes a dozen times of the next few months. I'm not sure what a recount will change.

Todays case ruling was against the SoS and Bush. The case had SoS and Bush as defendants. They are ruled against in todays ruling. In essence the certifed count is trash.

What a bunch of BS. The Florida SC is a bunch of hacks and this just proves it. How can one judge rule so strongly agianst Gore and another see it completely different. I hope the US SC slaps them agian and people will realize what a bunch of morons are sitting on the court.

I think Gore will win now and we will have to see him for the next 4 years giving his coma-like speeches. Bluuuuuuuuuuuck !
