With friends like that, who needs enemies? What a snake. He should have kept his mouth shut. I would never say something like that about a friend, or even an ex-friend. Loyalty should be more important.

The article raises two questions: 1. So what?; and 2. Will the experience make him a better or worse President?

No Presidential candidate can come out in favor of legalizing marijuana and expect to be elected, so his disgust with Gore's hypocrisy is foolish at best and narrow at worst.

And, of course, Frontline is just putting this out there to inform the electorate? What right wing crap.

<< all politicians lie >>

Not True -
My wife holds office, and is the most honest and forthright person I know. I have absolute, and total trust in everything she says. - and not just because she's my wife.

BORE on the other hand, is a pathological liar. Plain and simple.

Hmmm...

highschool principle contradicts Bore story = Bore lied?

It's more probable that the dumb a$$ principle got embarrased that
his school was the target for criticism.

Probably at the local level? It seems corruption happens at higher levels where the amounts of money become thinkable. To me the mission is clear: take the federal government's paws out of areas it doesn't belong in. Restore credibility to government (I want to believe, I really do!). Start making common sense policy decisions. I don't see Bore or Shrub accomplishing this. Their is agenda is just that: theirs. The humble citizen seems to be factored in last on many occassions. Who in their right mind votes for this crap? :|

Gore lies all the time just like his mentor Clinton. Bush isn't slick but he is much more truthful.

JB:

I agree with that general principle, but where to cut? Those decisions would be very difficult for me. Conservatives wouldn't want to cut the budget of the DEA. Liberals wouldn't want to cut the budget of the Dept. of Education. Finding consensus is very hard. Agreeing on your principle is the easy part. Find the programs to cut and the people to agree to those cuts!

Well I'd decide but nobody would vote for me. Besides I hate politics. Anyway, it's simple. You first cut the wieners who put us in this predicament. Namely, republicrats and demlicans. These fellas don't vote with their minds, they vote with their bank accounts and egos and vote down party lines. Put independents and solid third-party folk in office.

These independents put term limits into law and fix campaign finance reform. That alone might prevent this from ever happening again. Eventually enough reasonable minds will actually listen to the independent government auditors who, each year, point out the obvious pork-barrel spending. Last time, I believe, they reported hundreds of billions of wasted taxpayer dollars to congress. The report was simply filed away. Sites like http://www.cagw.org/ also point out wasteful spending. Cut it all out!!!! Give me back the government you had, chess9, when you were my age. I'm a stickler for efficiency so waste at this scale makes me just livid.

So DanC, your wife has never lied in her life?

Fact is politicians are lumped with lawyers, beaurocrats, Tabloid journos (including TV reporters) & Nazis as the lowest form of life to ever exist on the planet, anyone who thinks otherwise is naieve in the extreme.

I never thought that "right wing crap" would ever be used to describe "FrontLine".

You think Frontline is incapable of doing the dirty work of the far right wing or the far left wing? This story could be one either the Nader crazies as well as the right wing would want published. Anyway, it's crap journalism whether it came from the far left or the far right.

By the way, did you see the medication that guy's taking? I have a feeling he is very, very sick. I wouldn't be surprised if the article is little more than the wild exaggeration of a sick puppy. I also would not be surprised if Gore is downplaying his grass smoking. But, so what? I'll bet at least 75% of American males have smoked grass. Should we disqualify him for it? Should we count it against his credibility? Why? No politician can admit that? Bush is doing the exact same thing, and that's why you don't hear a lot about drugs from the Bush camp. They don't want to be caught in the cross-fire. In these waning days of the election you will probably hear all sorts of "bombshells" by people with grandiose visions, like this reporter, who think they are going to affect the election. Happens every four years like clockwork.

The point that I was trying to make was that Mr. Gore says that his experience with weed was "experimental". From the account of his friend, it was much more than experimentation.

I don't think that having used drugs in the distant past would disqualify someone from holding ANY public office.

The point is NOT that he HAS used "substances" in the past, which I think most Americans could understand, given the times. But that he rewrites his own history as he sees fit. Rather than just a "no comment", a tale must be woven.

For the record...
Blain does not think that someone who has used drugs in the past should automatically be disqualified from holding any public office. Let their character and demeanor do that.

Chess9,

People do get worked up around election time (just look at these boards). :)

Blain,

Nice link there. Too bad it doesn't include the very recent history of "the most ethical administration in history". Be sure to post that often...I'd nearly forgotten some of the crimes committed under the Clinton/Gore administration.

RD,

The Clinton/Gore administration is the most corrupt group of cronies I've had witness to. As for scrutiny being intense these days, yes it is. From what I understand, no journalist would ever ask Kennedy a question about his sex life. It just wasn't done back then. But even if all past administrations were equally or even more corrupt than Clinton/Gore, that does not excuse Clinton/Gore!

As for Reagan's troubles...damn I wish I had been more politically aware back then. I do recall Iran/Contra. I understand the gist was illegally trading arms for american hostages and whether or not Ronnie himself authorized it or even knew about it. And I recall Ronnie's random access memory issues. But in my mind this evil does not equate to half the things I've seen under Clinton/Gore. Am I nuts?

The frustration that Red Dawn has concerning McCain is shared by every American who understands the meaning of the term "putting your money where your mouth is". That is something you will neversee Mr. Bush do. He is a politician! Sadly one who has to struggle to remember what his party's "puppet masters" tell him to say.
McCain has actually had a full life and acquired maturity from it's lessons. He understands the diversity of American people with respect to their religious beliefs, and recognizes that most of the religious right have their heads up their a$$. Doesn't it say anything to you that the man is admired and respected by conservatives and liberals alike? It is unfortunate that many posting here are apparently, emotionally immature, believing that mommy and daddy taught them all the truth they need to know. I hope you don't get spanked if you decide to think for yourself.

IronMike, I've noticed this as well. Every time I see a 20 year hold provide his exhaustively researched opinion that "Gore rulz" or "Gore won the debate", I cringe. Just because mommy and daddy are democrats or repulicans doesn't mean they are correct, kids. My advice to them: stay home, don't vote.

God believes in the occult......however, it is powerless and impotent in his presence.

God has prepared a place for all things related to Satan and the occult...that place is called the Lake of Fire......when the time. .. ... .... ..... ...... .......it is right...:)

No offense taken, I forgive you so that you...and I...can remain free to speak words that come from the core of our being.

It is not my objective to be nice or not nice. There is only One who is good, that is God. Kindness is from God.

It is Written...my Words are Spirit and they are Life and health to all your physical and mental life.

Without a vital link to the One Who Sits On the Throne That Is White, The Most High God, Words of the Spirit seem foolish.

From the prospective of the world of the 5 physical senses, things of the Higher realms are not allowed to be decoded.

CNN is reporting that Gore did NOT fib about the high school girl who had to stand in class. As it turns out, the principal was being less than truthful. After further questioning he admitted that quite a few students had been required to stand in the class that was designed for 24 but had 36 students.

Ah, the truth...sweet like a razor!
