GOP threatens big business if they don't agree with Republican policies or exercise their 1A rights

Corporations, if you speak out against Republican policies they are coming after you. If you offer a benefit of travel costs for out of state abortions they are coming after you.

If I'm not mistaken this sounds downright fascist. Republicans demand companies "get out of politics" unless you agree with them. I don't recall Democrats threatening Hobby Lobby with retaliation for speaking out and acting on their objection to the ACA but Democrats are not the fascist party.

“The first step to earn our support is a new shared strategy to reprimand corporations that have gone woke,” the letter read.

The organization that puts on the annual Republican gathering, the Conservative Political Action Conference, called on lawmakers to punish corporations with “radical left policies” such as paying travel costs for employee abortions, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement

I eagerly await the onslaught of 1A cases that will immediately follow any attempt to enact this.

shouldnt extremists be held accountable? if it said far right extremists, it would be ok then. this is exactly what i have said, and called names, said i was stupid, that i didnt know history. the far left has been attacking, going after republicans/conservatives, now they are in charge of the House, and are doing exactly what was done to them. Also, this is partially the left's fault, the democrats funnelled millions into capaigns of far right candidates in hopes it would be easier to beat them, some of them did indeed win unfortunately. Biden has said the American people have spoken by giving Democrats the majority for the Senate, it could be said the American people have spoken by giving Republicans the majority for the House. Either way, its going to be a rough two years.

before anyone says gerrymandering, Democrats did it in NY and California, they all do it. Each time power of Congress/Presidency changes, they go after the loosers, they are all the same when it comes to this. If gerrymandering was as bad as people here made it out to be, Democrats would not have kept control of the Senate.

The NY gerrymander was struck down due to Cuomo's conservative appointment to the NY Supreme Court. Anyway the only people to regularly propose eliminating partisan gerrymandering entirely are the Democrats but the Republicans always say no.

Oof.

I guess I'm not supposed to call you stupid for thinking that it is possible to gerrymander the Senate.

Edit: In reality, the Senate is one big, permanent gerrymander, giving far more representation to voters in less populated states than those in more populated states.

How were they going after conservatives, specifically?

If your opponent shaves 2-3oz from their gloves are you going to fight with your 10oz gloves? Unilateral disarmament would be suicide. The courts stopped the attempted Democrat gerrymander and they lost the seats which proves my point

Democrats are the only ones trying to fix the political gerrymandering problem.

Currently they've been getting away with it. Courts have been ignoring all real reasons shouted publicly and played ignorant.

Republicans think that the 1A is to make corporations publish direct they don't want to. While not protecting corporations from retaliation from the government.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has stated that corporations that stopped donating to Republicans after the Capitol riot will be investigated after the GOP retakes the House. Maybe they can try to make that sort of thing totally against the law. LOL

The net knowledge of US Senator elections, and US gerrymandering, is approximately sub-zero in this JWade

For basic edification: Senators are elected by an entire state. So the only gerrymandering that impacted this were the original decisions on the designations of what were US states (which hasn't changed in 63 years)

And gerrymandering somewhat washes out, in that both Democrats and Republicans practice it, but the impact is even worse than most people here make it out to be. Example 1 of a purple state: 75% of Wisconsin house seats went to republicans, on 50.5% of the vote going to republicans. And it still would have been 75% of seats to Republicans, on even a minority of 49% of voters voting for Republicans...

Can you explain to me how statewide senate seats are gerrymandered? Did I miss the borders of states moving for political gain in the last 2 years?

That's apples/giraffes.

Punishment for not doing something (advertising) is not the same as contractual terms on a voluntary matter. The former is essentially "do what we say or else". The latter is not.
According to the OP, Republicans want to punish companies FOR DOING something voluntary (offering benefits or support). In the case I linked, states can punish you (prevent you from doing contractual work) for doing something voluntary (boycotting). I don't see where you get "not doing something" out of this thread.

There was a part where the punishment was also directed at companies that had expressed support in ads, etc and then using that fact against them later. That would be the difference.

for those who say you cant gerrymander the senate. majority of cities tend to be Democrat, look at any election map. Divide the two senate seats of a state so that there are majority of blue voters in each half. Use Missouri as an example. Line could be to have both st louis and Kansas City in the same senate districts, both have significant democrat populations, divide them up and put them each into separate disctricts to give both a better chance of going blue. Looking at the population map of Missouri, it could easily be done to redistrict to have them together.

i said they are equally guilty of gerrymandering, and in the case of NY, a NY judge appointed by a Democrat, struck it down. This proves my point exactly. They tried to do it, it was struck down because it was gerrymandering. Let's make an excuse on why it was struck down, the judge appointed by a Democrat was conservative, thats why. not because it was illegal. But when Democrats bring gerrymandering cases against Republicans, if its struck down its gerrymandering, if it stays and is said to be legal by a judge, its a bad judge, its that way because it favors Republicans.

seriously, you all are just as bad as the MAGA crowd. you blindly follow the left and everything they say. Make excuses for the things democrats do, when republicans do the same thing they get condemned.

trying to fix it, yet still practice it themselves, again, NY is the best example of it, but lets give the Democrats a pass on it. But but but Republicans do it more. Even if the ONLY case of Democrat gerrymandering was NY, doing it only once is one too many.

You should learn the basics of how the US government is structured before posting again.
