Basically, Republicans are essentially children

Remember the time Democrats were out of power and they held a resolution to rebrand Republicans as the "Republican Fascist Party"? Yeah, i don't remember that either.

Seriously, does the GOP even know how much trouble it's in? Any reasonable adult will see how childish this is. As inept as the GOP is, this is probably one of their more pathetic moments in politics.

Anything to hurt republicans more in the coming elections

Of course, you're too stupid to see it, but hey, if it helps our side, i guess we can agree with it together.

Yeah, that should help the image of a party that already looks like a bunch of petulant children.

"Socialism in political thought refers to economic theories of social organization advocating collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals, with an egalitarian method of compensation."

Frankly, modern liberals and democrats don't seem all to far from this definition by their actions.

Pure socialism and pure capitalism are both equally bad. Hence why our economy is a combination of the two. It's the slight cyclical change in the balance between the two that tends to launch one party or the other into futile histrionics.

Yawn.

I believe "Limbaughtistas" after their leader, "El Douche" would be more accurate.

If they have half a brain the Democrats will use this to their advantage. There's nothing inherantly wrong with words like 'socialism' and 'liberalism' which are said with the same tone as 'scum' by most Americans - over here politicians routinely describe themselves as socialists, and it goes down very well with blue collar workers. Even more so during a recession widely seen to be caused by the elites. All the Democrats need to do is spin the word in a clever way and it might actually help them.

Wow, another brilliant idea by the Republican party. They need a new strategy, and it doesn't involve name calling or labeling.

I think that the Republicans will remain a minority party until such a time as they figure out just who they are and what they stand for. They need to resolve the social/fiscal conservative rift. That alliance is dying as people are waking up to the fact that no party, especially the Republicans can have a monopoly on religion in addition to our economy going in the shitter under 'conservative/freemarket' principles. When the senators from my state (Shelby/Sessions) are the big dogs in the party, that is BAD. It would take a HUGE mistake from teh democrats to save the republicans now unless they reform, but I don't see either happening right now.... Buh-bye GOP as we know it. May its successors have their heads firmly bolted on their shoulders and not up their...arses...

Not a bad idea, but socialism has always carried a special stigma attached to it ever since the red scares of the cold war. I could see the dems doing a similar smear job to the word 'conservative' as the republicans did to those calling themselves 'liberals' post 911. The democrats would have a better success instead branding themselves as progressives/populists...

Thankfully our budget is so fucked that socialist programs wont fly without new taxes, which would absolutely screw the dems in 2010 and 2012.

Handouts to failing businesses, and taxes on beer, soda, etc? There couldnt be a better thing to happen to a (R)'s election chances.

LOL The GOP just had to get the word 'socialist' in there. Socialist is as scary as the word logic is to a lot of them :p

You never know....that didn't help the republicans last time around. People seem to be much more amiable to a more progressive system of taxation due to the recent economic crisis and the decades long increasing gap between the haves and have nots, despite increased productivity/efficiency in our economy. Those who took risks at the top got off while the rest of us got screwed...that is a powerful sentiment that works in the dems favor. Handouts to failing businesses may or may not hurt them, as it may help many keep jobs in the interum. Besides, if you are a Keynsian, chances are you may agree that such a step in teh short term is necessary. If anything, the taxes on beer, soda, even cigarrettes will work heavily against the dems. Those have been known to heavily affect local elections, so they would probably be devastating on a national stage...

I would assume people who don't want to be treated like children would care.

In short the (R)'s want the country to fail so they can resume pushing the failed policies that got us here in the first place.

Socialist is a word people use who have or are losing power. It's government by the people instead of special interests.
