Republicans in the Senate did not necessarily object to the measure, but they protested Thursday after Democrats refused to allow votes on other amendments.

Seems like more of the "If you won't let us vote on our stuff than we will vote no for your stuff"

"The legislation would have provided the tax credit to companies that hire new employees or otherwise expand their payrolls this year, a typically popular approach among the GOP. Republicans in the Senate did not necessarily object to the measure, but they protested Thursday after Democrats refused to allow votes on other amendments."

Except the democrat's 'stuff' was already gop 'stuff'. CUTTING TAXES.

Edit: Besides that, you're taking the GOP at their word, which is hilarious. They're the worst liars.

The cold hard truth is, you are an enabler of bad Washington behavior.

Have things gotten better, or worse, since you decided to spread the message?

No, i did not vote for a republican. And if you're going to reply that 'both sides are equally bad', then all i gotta say is, that's just plain intellectual laziness.

Nope, not what I'm saying. But thanks for attempting to put words in my mouth.

I'm saying all you accomplish is fuel the hatred between the two sides, without ever doing anything that will actually solve anything.

You know perfectly well you are not being fully honest in your recap of this story.

Do you expect anything more from one of the bigger partisan hacks on this forum?

Don't stop there. "Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, sought votes on other tax proposals, specifically one that would extend for another year the tax breaks from the George W. Bush administration that expire in December." So, basically "vote for our tax cuts or we won't vote for your tax cuts which we also want." There's absolutely no good reason to skip voting for a bill you already support which will help a large segment of the population just so you can try to get more things attached as riders and amendments.

THIS TIMES INFINITY

I don't understand why Democrats keep on taking on GOP positions when the GOP will NEVER VOTE FOR THEM. Unless it's to make the GOP look bad, but that only works when Americans pay attention.

Phokus:

The bottom line is you can hope and pray and shout and scream and bitch and moan and post your rants all over the internet. The Republican party is not dissolving anytime soon.

There are two options (A) encourage the parties to work together, or (B) encourage the parties to hate each other. You, Phokus, fall squarely into option B.

Thanks for playing the game of partisan hackary.

No, it's ironic that you, one of the biggest partisan hacks, is calling someone else one.

Ahh, so you are a misinformed partisan hack too, gotcha. In case you didn't notice, I am not defending the idiocy of Republicans, and more often than not I agree that they are complete loons, so sorry, no, you the proven hack doesn't get to just fling it back when ever you need to.

Last time the middle class tax cut was threatened to ensure the upper class tax cut. This time it's small business. Seems obvious where their priority lies.

followed by all the liberals heading to message boards to hurriedly post about republican obstructionism. It is all about perception... not about reality.

Sorry, but you ARE falsely equating both parties as being 'equally bad'. Democrats give in too much to the GOP while the GOP doesn't reciprocate AT ALL.

Let me give you another example:

A few months ago, democrats and republicans had a bi-partisan verbal agreement to cut both social spending and military cuts. However, the GOP renegged on that and changed it to 0 military cuts and ALL social spending cuts. Now, no cuts will go through.

But lets pretend they're both equally at fault.

In reality YOU are the problem, because you believe in this fairy tail fantasy that both the democrats and republicans play the same games. You can argue that they're both bad, but if you weren't so intellectually lazy, you'll realize that a) it's not to the same degree and b) they're bad for different reasons.

edit:

This goes for you too. When the GOP does dumb shit, conservatives just throw up their hands and shout, 'well, both parties are equally bad!' as some sort of defense and you low information voters eat it up.

How do you encourage the parties to work together when the Democrats propose a bill the Republicans already want, but the Republicans still refuse to vote on it without adding more stuff to it? Which party is really trying to work together here?

Yes, Democrats offer a conservative bill, but won't let republicans vote on OTHER conservative bills. THE HORROR.

Just admit, in the minds of conservatives, your idea of 'bi-partisanship' is when Democrats roll over for conservatives on 100% of everything.
