LOL @ McCain: "We should return to regular order" right after voting on totally unknown legislation.

For someone who's courage is constantly praised he displays precious little of it in office of late.

I found this quote to be accurate....

Kennedy used his dying breath to give something to the People, whereas McCain will use his to take something away. Pretty much encapsulates the difference between parties.

And the first vote coming up will be on the BCRA w/Cruz amendment and a 60 vote threshold due to no score. Totally giving the shaft to Rand Paul who was promised a straight repeal vote. Haha.

Repubs' objective in all his is to cut taxes at the top, regardless of the consequences to the rest of us, then rely on never falling below the filibuster margin to hold on to them. If we can't raise taxes back up then we can't afford the ACA or anything like it.

It'll all trickle down, of course, but no further than Repub politicos.

Republicans are going to wish they just let the MTP die when it's all over. This is going to be like walking through a minefield for them.

Staggering difference between how Kennedy and McCain used their last days. McCain will be losing his healthcare before a lot of other people do though.

I thought straight repeal was replaced with "skinny repeal" this morning? I still have no idea wtf that means...

It means removing the various employer and individual mandates, basically, which will likely destabilize insurance markets.

It makes zero public policy sense to do other than so you can say you 'repealed Obamacare'. Well that and get literally anything passed so you can go conference with the House.

Good to know someone is keeping up with this...If only the GOP senators could figure out what they're voting on...

And how the living fuck do you square a skinny repeal bill with the house BCRA? The core disagreements still exist and have no apparent solutions.

Apparently the goal according to Heller is to "Put this behind us by Friday". That doesn't sound a lot like somebody who anticipates voting on conference legislation.

I meant ever. They'll pass whatever now, claim victory, and fail to reach an agreement in conference.
I bet Donnie will be pissed. "Mitch, where's the bill? I thought we were signing a bill. I'm ready to sign, didn't we just win? Mitch? Paulie boy?"

Put together a cohesive sentence so I can understand what you're saying. Are you saying that the poor spend a majority (over 50%) of their income in taxes?

CoL, taxes being a huge part of that. I guess you now want to toss out sales taxes for this new distraction of yours?

T-Rump weighs in.....and I'm sure the base will believe every word.

Trump promised to deliver a "really, really wonderful" health care plan, and said he's "really really happy" with the Senate's vote to move forward with the bill.

"We're going to try to come up with something that's really spectacular. We have a lot of options, and a lot of great options" he said.

By "something" he means "anything".
