Google's "Inbox" thing

I got it from a friend at work. It's.....interesting. I wish calendar reminders could be easily tied into the build in reminder thing. All of mine just get grouped into the "Updates" group unless I setup something to move them.

Got my invite this afternoon, looks like every other time someone tries to "fix" email.
Gmail itself tried to sneak some label/heading/tab things in awhile ago that I promptly turned off. I really don't mean it badly but I don't see a use for this stuff unless one is chronically unorganized. I get 30 emails a day on my personal account and maybe twice that at work. No biggie, read, label, star, archive. Solution looking for a problem imo.
On a related note, I also can't stand Evernote and the like, and even more so with the latest update. I'm forced to use it, although very little, at work. I'm too much of a DOS kid to need this touchy feely crap.

Oh I so want to try this... if anyone has a invite please feel free to send my way 🙂 It's my username @ gmail.

Where do these invitations show up? Top right, left side bar, bottom right?

Just got a notification I had invites when I logged into Inbox. It then shows up when you hit compose. Gold icon above red compose:

Now hopefully that golden ticket means I can go to the Googleplex and see the little wampa mompas put together Nexuses. 😀

I played with it yesterday because a friend bought an invite off Ebay. He loves it because he is Mr. Inbox Zero. He proudly showed me all the categories he created.

I don't think I personally would get any use of it, with my thousands and thousands of unread messages. Any navigation beyond a search function is useless to me.

So I've been using it ever since getting an invite and I have yet to go back to regular Gmail. I like the to do list presentation, it's also really nice for purchases as you scroll through a horizontal list and see the images.

I have not created my own bundles, have just been using the ones Inbox makes for you, and they all surprisingly make sense and work well too.

I still use the plan old Gmail look on my desktop, which I personally feel works better. I don't want fancy on my desktop, I want bare bones functionality in a list format on my computer. On my phone, I do prefer the automated bundling and to do list layout.

I agree with Red Storm. On Mobile / Tablet Inbox is pretty handy. On the Desktop side regular G-mail. Even though Inbox isn't bad on Desktop it's just a personal preference really.

If Google wants to do something innovative with email how about making gmail conform to the complete IMAP standard or at least give Gmail users an option for full IMAP compliance if they want it.

I usually get invites fairly early on from Google but still nothing on this one. I'll keep an eye out here but if someone could send me an invite, it's my nick at gmail. Thanks. 🙂
