It's not really Googlegear's fault, unless it was shipped without the $800 of components. I'm going to say UPS is to blame on this one, but still Googlegear should have gotten this sorted out in a timely fashion.

This is an update on my situation with Googlegear. A few days ago, Googlegear finally gave me a $838.26 credit on my credit card for the missing items. The didn't do this until after I sent a letter to my credit card company about the problem.

A good end to an unfortunate situation for both parties concerned. Happy to see the customer prevail in this world of "It was not my fault" or "It is not our responsibility when it leaves our warehouse".

You should always involve your credit card company immediately in any dispute you feel is going badly. By federal credit laws THEY will act as your agent and defend you. They have the power to yank the money back from the vendor in any case they believe is valid. Credit card companys are your best asset. They control the money and if they say a vendor isn't getting paid the vendor isn't getting paid. Merchant credit agreements define very specific paths for complaints and a single violation of any procedure by the vendor results in a back charge.

In summary always use a credit card and if it takes a turn for the worse contact the credit company immediately.

I had to RMA my first purchase from Googlegear, they had my old mobo for nearly two weeks when I called them
up and threated to take actions with my CC company, needless to say they shipped out my mobo that day. :)

Either way, that sucks. Sorry to hear it. :(

Exactly, UPS should not have accepted the box if it had looked like it had been pilfered through, and you should make a habit of checking boxes for damages before accepting from UPS as well. Its does suck though, and I hope you take it up with UPS. Good luck.
