Google seems to be failing me for Fake Grasshoppers?

I am working an upcoming church event in which we are replicating the plagues and I am in need of a large quantity of fake locusts/grasshoppers. I am estimating around 10,000 of them, and while I can find plastic insect assortments for cheap, less than a $1.00 a dozen, I am so far unable to find grasshoppers. Google is just not coming up with anything useful, so I thought maybe someone on here might know of a source.

10,000 grasshoppers, whats next...

Well, if I remember correctly, after the locusts came the darkness and then the death of the first born males.

To really simulate a plague, I think you're going to need a lot more than 10000. Not bulk enough, sorry!

This is true. 10,000 grasshoppers could easily be dispatched with a flame thrower.

10,000 should be enough for the room they are wanting to do this in, plus I will have to sweep them up and reset the effect every 30 minutes or so, as there will be multiple groups coming through the area. They also don't have the largest budget around either...

Tell them 10,000 is an unacceptable amount of grasshoppers. 10x that = plague? We need to reach a concensus on this issue before we locate a place for you to purchase an undetermined amount of plastic grasshopper.

I found these pretty quickly, but $3 a pop is going to set you back a new car for the quantity you need.

I too came across those, but as you mentioned, $3 a pop is a lot more than the budget will allow for, plus it would be larger than what we are really looking for. Probably something only 1 inch or so long.

Something similiar to these spiders, but in grasshopper form.
144 spiders for $4.00

Check the cheapo bulk party favor type sites.

I haven't found any that are specifically grasshoppers, but they have big bags of cheapo insects and such.

I guess you have to ask yourself: How accurate does this really need to be? I think kids will get the picture with a mixed set.

Also since the one I linked is being sold as a fundraiser you might try finding out where they got them. You can bet they're making a ridiculous profit selling them at $3 apiece.

10,000 live crickets (conveniently packaged in CANS) for about $140.

May as well give them the full effect!

that's awesome. Just spraypaint them green immediately before releasing them.

You'll have the various effects of :

*Approximating the appearance of grasshoppers
*Terrorizing people as thousands of flying green things slime them with green goo
*Pissing off the crickets as they die from being painted with caustic chemicals, which will make them even more spastic and annoyed
*The crickets will rapidly die, which you can then give credit to the Lord for, for ending the plague!!
*You can give the dead crickets to the poor so that they can eat

/win

Seems to me all the money that would be spent on this could probably help out the less fortunate or something. You know, something like Jesus might have done. I dunno, I'm just sayin'

That sounds like one of the more ridiculous things I've heard on the internet. Please record it and put it on youtube, especially the parts where they jump into everyone's hair and clothes.

I don't know about you, but a spider plague is much more terrifying to me than a grasshopper plague.

Yes, you would think that there would be better ways for a church to spend the money, but it was not my call.

While the thought of using live grasshoppers or crickets did cross our minds, as it would be highly amusing, it just wouldn't go over very well.
