*sigh*, such silly fanboy blather. For one, there are multiple iPhones for sale right now. Secondly, and far more importantly in the context of this thread, the sales numbers Apple announced are not sales of the iPhone. You do get that, right? This includes all iOS devices - including the iPod Touch, which is cheap and has no monthly fees data attached, and the iPad, which has no contract attached regardless of data or not. So while your second point - the iPhone 4 outsells individual Android phones - may be valid, it is entirely irrelevant to this thread.
As for your question about why adding up the models matters....err, this was Google talking, not HTC, not Motorola. Google doesn't care who is selling their phones. Google cares about the number of Android devices out there. Why? That's that many more devices selling apps in the market, earning them direct income. That's that many more devices more likely to use Google services, indirectly earning them ad dollars.
Its not rocket science as to why Google cares about all Android sales, not the sales of an individual phone model. In fact, if you claim to disagree with that logic, you are either A) lying to us solely for the sake of trolling or B) very, very ignorant, and therefore in no position to be making the emotion-fueled posts you're making.
