I was tempted to order the 7 pro for the $200 credit to use later on a watch. But I'm skeptical of the new modem. If the phone does well in the Google pixel subreddit and reviews are solid after a few months I may consider ordering it.

I only really miss the camera since shutter lag on the S22U is not cool but otherwise pictures are fine if you are not photographing moving subjects.

Google's doing a $540 trade in for a P6 Pro 256gb..i'm definitely going hold on for another year.
I'm curious to see if they do the Black Friday deals this year.

Plus 200 in Google store credit. For some people that's great too. I would use an instantly on a nest thermostat or put it towards the watch.

But it would be annoying to return especially with a trade in.

I'll just go through t mobile since I can't be 100% on the phone. Much easier to return that way. But it's tempting.

Yeah, the $200 credit is good but id feel forced to use it and spend more money.

I'm certainly not in a rush to replace my Pixel 6 (it's a 'sidearm' phone, but still). It's still quick, takes quality photos and is better-behaved after updates. If I were buying new? Sure, give me a Pixel 7! But I'll be happy to wait another year or two.

Checked today and seems they are still available for order. Last time they were out of stock pretty quickly.

I'm waiting for real world reviews. The 7 pro units at best buy get pretty warm after heavy camera use and also seems they are using a different fingerprint sensor but it's still optical, not ultrasonic.

On the 6 pro that was one of the most annoying fingerprint readers I've ever used. 7/10 times it wouldn't unlock on the first try.

I read that too with the phone heating up..so nothing much has changed with initial software. I'm sure it's going to be a typical phone launch with annoying bug ridden first month or two.

The fingerprint on my 6 Pro has been pretty solid since launch, I know i'm part of the minority, I think it has to do with the screen protector on it. That said, there's tons of people that said and still says it sucks.

My FPS was great on my first 6pro from day 1. My 2nd 6pro had a slightly wonky FPS but that was fixed with updates. I haven't even noticed the FPS as an issue in many months. Like I've never had a thought that was upset with the FPS in a long time.

I'm not going to pre-order. I'll wait and grab it through my carrier or trade in the 6pro to Google if they will still give me $540 for it.

Just ordered the 7 pro in white in 256GB. I can't resist the $540 trade in for my 6 pro, plus I'll get $230 in Google Store Credit. I'll put it towards the watch if the reviews are good on the battery life, otherwise I know I want the Nest Smoke Detector, so that money will go to good use. If I have major issues with the phone in the first 10 days I will do a return.

Some guy in Italy got his 7 pro today and has posted some observations on Reddit. In Europe I think exynos modems are much more common. Anyways in his home which is thick stone walls he has his old S21+ to compare signal strength to. He posted this result:

P7pro -105DbM 24 ASU

S21+ -118 22ASU

Quite a bit better signal at that location. a 13dbm improvement is quite large. Will see as he posts more. He just started using it a few hours ago after work.

With those deals it'd definitely be tempting. If I were snagging the Pixel Watch, I'd be happy so long as I had a decent charge left at the end of a normal day (so I know I could have a long day if need-be).

I saw that as well he also lives in a skii resort town so signal should be decent there.

Form what I see in the Google pixel subreddit from those that received it early is that signal is better, it gets warm but not as hot as the pixel 6 pro did, and battery is yet to be gauged as it will need a week or two.

Basically what the pixel 6 pro should have been. I feel like they are always 1 year behind in hardware but I'm glad they seem to have resolved the issues so far from the 6 pro. Let's see how it does in the up coming months. I don't want to give up on pixel completely.

I also would like to have the pixel watch except the watch has built in integration with Fitbit yet is missing features other Fitbit devices have like auto starting workouts.

One thing I like about my girlfriend's apple watch is how it automatically tracks everything without her needing to tell it she is working out or doing a specific exercise.

Reviews should be out today. My younger self haunts me with yearly upgrades and i'm trying to stay strong lol. I really don't have any issues with my 6 Pro :grimacing:

I look at it this way: yearly upgrades used to be a big deal because the technology was so young that just about everything was an improvement (larger display! GPS! Zoom camera!). We're at a point now where the upgrades are much subtler, so there's no shame in waiting another year or two.

I agree in that the only feature I think the Pixel watch should have that it does not is automatic workout starting. I am going to be optimistic that they can add this via an update. I personally don't need it but I think it is a no brainer.

This is very very true, but in this case the 7 pro might potentially fix some issues that did not belong on the 6 pro for many people.

If the reception is much improved, I will probably upgrade- not to a pro but a P7. I want the smaller phone size. As I've mentioned before, 5G reception at my house is poor, way worse than my sister's Galaxy S20fe.

True. I wouldn't ditch a Pixel 6 model unless I could get one of those very sweet upgrade offers, but if you can swing it... go for it.

Just ordered the pro 128gb version from my jobs account. 149 +tax. I opted for the trade in discount but the syste, didn't give me what device options to trade in. I currently use an iphone 12 thats strictly for work. Maybe thats the phone they want? I dont really care as I only use to call users. My personal phone is a samsung s22 ultra. They can have my iphone 12,

There is a good chance the Pixel 8 upgrades all or most of the cores next year. To do it this year would have made it quite a bit more expensive as I think the primary newer Samsung core would require adjusting all the others.

user tested 7pro modem signal vs pixel 5 in Germany

Pixel 5 -103 dBm 37 asu

Pixel 7 pro -95 dBm 45asu

definitely variables depending on what band each phone is locking on to but so far all the numbers posted so far are better so we can be optimistic.
