we are... you just need to decide how to best utilize that brain of yours... these guys had a good idea and ran with it. And like most successful companies, there was risk at first. Are you ready to take the plunge ?

Nothing is more entertaining than the middle class coming to the defense of corporate executives.

Maybe I should rephrase that...why doesnt God give everyone equal opportunities and make everyone equal?

Surely a person born with a mental disorder can't be considered equal.

I can't wait until Google stock dot-bombs. It's totally over-inflated.

Google: 169.40
Microsoft: 26.86
Ford: 14.15
AT&T: 18.71

Their stock won't deflate until they have a real competitor. The only company with the resources to do that is MS.

Yes, I know that ingenuity triumphs over evil, but no matter what you guys say, MS is always a threat with their commanding share of the OS market, productivity suite market, web browser market, Hotmail, Xbox, their foray into TV over IP, and their billions in cash reserves. If you think that Gates is going to sit there idle while watching Google grow large enough to threaten his business, you're wrong.

Not at all. In fact, out of the many different factors which cause share prices to drop, competition is near the bottom.

Just one really, so don't expand this to anything else. I just think its odd having middle class defend the individuals pulling massive profits out of the like of google, when there profits (from stocks) come from us (the middle class). The masses of cash that is sustaining their stock price is increasing coming from 401K's, mutual funds, insurance companies, IRA's... This is how they made so much so quick.

You think they deserve it? Maybe, maybe not. My point is that increasing I think people are blind to Corporations brainwashing us to thinking that its the American Dream is to do what they are doing (Cashing out of IPO's with millions for example), and America should be proud of them. Jealous maybe, but not proud.

Don't be fooled, they are the ones with the living the Ultimate Dream, you are not part of it, you are just paying for it.

(Disclaimer, being middle class in the US is still great and can be considered 'living the dream' in its own right, compared to say 3'rd world countrys , and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else)
Jealous ? I'm not jealous of celebs, why would I be jealous of anyone else ? And are you assuming I'm middle class ? I am happy for anyone who does well and made their own way there, no matter who is funding it. The word is not jealous, it's more of an envy... it's nice to be them, but why should we look at them with spite ?

Didn't mean to insult you by calling you middle class (but for the record, I looked at your pic in your sig, and made assumption that your somewhere in the middle, like most of us)

actually I shoulda just replied: you came from P&N didn't you ?
No but that made me chuckle!
...now I'm going outside, or at least Google-up some ideas on outdoor activities!😎

You had and still have the same opportunity to do something like this. I think it's funny how people get jealous at those who do better than them..especially those who do ridiculously well. The only thing I get from this is why bother being part of your so called "middle class". Why not come up with your own idea and do something similar? I hate how people get jealous of people who are ridiculously wealthy or do better than them when they have every opportunity in the world to do the same thing.

As far as you are not part of it, you're right but the big guys serve 1 purpose. They inspire the smaller guys to do similar things. THey tell the common "middle class" folks that they too can create and live a dream.

Who says anyone is proud of them? Why be jealous of them? Why not look at the success story and say to yourself what can I learn from them? What did they do right? It's your attitude that makes you middle class and will always make you middle class.

I definitly do not much room to complain (gainfully employed engineer making 10X my conterparts in other counties), so I won't for now! I withdraw everything I said so I wont feel obliged to respond. Maybe another day we can continue this conversation or I will check out P&N forums 🙂

Not trying to continue this any further but I have to say this. That's your problem right there. You're happy in your situation making 80-100k a year. You're satisfied because you compare yourself to people below yourself.

I've met a lot of people worth over 20 million lately and I realized they're not any smarter or have any better ideas than you or I. It's also funny how it's kind of a small community of really wealthy people around here and they all know each other and are all part of the local VC community. There's 2 reasons why they're successful. For one, they know how to leverage an idea with very little risk to themselves. For another they have the right mindsets and desires to to take advantage of opportunities and are seemingly never satisfied. A guy sells his company for 20 million and never has to work again yet he is busy starting another company. It's an addiction, it's a desire. Some people have it, some people don't.
