Thanx, cant wait till the day you'll even be able to see a person with these. Up close is still a bit fuzzy.

Yes. Does anyone know an address of some nudist colony? J/K!

Worked with a guy who helped develop some targeting systems on satalites used by our military. He said they could read the date off a dime on a sidewalk on a cloudy day. That was 10 years ago. Funny, ten years ago he was probly exxagerating.. today i'd be surprised if it wasnt the case.

By the way there is no such location as 118.604106 longitude. The 118 exixts, but as soon as you add 60 minutes to it, it becomes 119. It's like saying i'll meet you at 5:65pm for dinner.

Do you have to create an account for this or is it simply because the server isn't down that I cannot try this out?

What I like about world wind is you dont have to be online to use it plus you can save unlimited cashe (I have about 15gb).

Is there any way to save unlimited cashe or log on without being connected with google?

The Jet is at

Jet at 34.300659°/ -118.604106° is correct using the decimal format (uncheck show in deg/min/sec)

Why are some places soooo much clearer than others? For instance I can just about make out the model of an individual car in Tokyo, but can't even see a football stadium in Gainesville, Fl....

the system is a mosiac of differnt pictures from different sources. Some are high resolution some are lower. look around, I've noticed that the brown looking spots are higher res.

I am looking at area 51 right now..hehehe
I looked at Hill AFB in Layton (around there) and there were a sh!t load of fighters, aeven a couple new b1s. This thing is kick ass! Even an Aircraft carrier in the Toronto area.

OMG This SH!T IS SO F'n COOL!!!

But let me tell ya how I really feel.......;-)

Live in Boston, and so far I have seen two 3D animated 'maps'? of planes preparing to land at Logan International Airport; all the while in midflight. You can actually make out what kind of aircraft it is, i.e a Boeing 727 on apporach over the water.

Thought a bit dissapointed, tried to see Eniwetok Atoll in the southen pacific, but it just shows up as a blur.

One of the few non-game programs, that even challenges my hardware hard. (Never thought I would EVER use OpenGL again ;-) Very cool

It is still a lot better than most of the similar programs I've seen. I can actually make out my apartment for once. If you could get the image quality to where you could see individual people, I think there could be some serious invasion of privacy issues - people sunbathing nude in their fenced in back yard don't want to accidentally wind up all over the internet.
And even if you could see people it would never be live. At least not unless you had a lot of money😉

Shoot... take a look at
32° 10' 00.00" N and 110° 51' 20.00" W
zoom in to ... i dunno 5000' eye altitude feet.. drag west 2 miles... go back
drag north 1 mile then drag east 2 miles then south 2 miles then east again...

you'll see the worlds second largest airforce just sitting there in the warm AZ sun.

6000+ b-52, f-4's f 16s a10s a6s u2s f105s c130s f 14s f18s f15s... blackhawks, chinooks.. butt loads of planes

365 B-52 chopped up to comply with the conditions of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START)

most in storage as Tucson?s meager rainfall, low humidity, and alkaline soil. These conditions make it possible to store aircraft indefinitely with a minimum of deterioration and corrosion. In addition, the soil (called caliche) is hard, making it possible to park aircraft in the desert without constructing concrete or steel parking ramps.

I just downloaded the mirrior and it appears to be the Plus version. I can't login and I guess its because Plus is a Retail not the free product.

Just tried to login with my old Keyhole PW and it redirected me to the free program.

they chopped up b-52 for START? that'st stupid. as if all the nukes need to be dropped from a bomber nowadays

Would you like a nuke from a bomber any less than from an ICBM?

Nice program. But the extreme hard drive caching was enough to put my old Quantum 30GB harddrive out to pasture. Replaced it with a 250GB hitachi SATA.
