Never going to happen which is part of the reason why it will never be a 'paypal killer'. The big hype going on right now is just because of the discounts there offering. Once that goes away people will stop using it as much. If I'm buying from a merchant I would prefer to just use a 1time disposable # through my credit card and if I'm using ebay I obviously am going to use paypal.

the second GC came out, eBay included it in the list of "not acceptable forms of payment".

one reason why they'll never let eBayers use GC is because of the double-dipping cash cow known as "eBay FVF + PayPal" (since they own PayPal, they want users to get charged by it too)

What do you guys think? I definitely prefer it over Paypal when I have a choice.

When paypal demanded access to my checking account even though I always used a credit card before I would be allowed to exceed $1500 total in purchases, I told them to go pound sand up their backside, they have no right to my checking information. Fvck paypal, the greedy bastards

Nope, and I seriously doubt it'll ever happen. Ebay owns Paypal, and that's why Ebay prefers people using their own service, Paypal. Double the fees that go straight into their pockets....

Seems to be, I've certainly been using it to save $20 off $50
The question is, will you continue to use it when the offer goes away?

I only use Paypal when I have to. Otherwise direct CC. Fvck paypal!

well, the nice thing about it is you can keep your CC on file with just Google and not sprinkled all over the net on various sites.

Weird to read all the criticism of paypal. They very quickly bailed me out after months of trying to get Ebay to reverse a triple billing for one of my auction listings. Funny thing was, the Paypal rep saw I was triple billed before I even explained it to him, but the Ebay guy swore I was lying about it.

Havent used google checkout, but I guess I'll try it.

I'm guessing, but there's probably a lot more money being exchanged on a daily basis in individual to business transactions than there is individual to individual transactions. Also a bigger potential for growth.

Google's pretty smart.

I've applied the gc in my cart. Works fine if I use the regular checkout but it doesn't show up in Google Checkout at all.

Hmmm... I've used codes for the specific site for 50%, 15%, $10 off any order and I still went through googlecheckout and got the $20/50 on top of that. I scored a pair of $30 Timberland gloves for $1.67 shipped by using the code for a percentage off on their site, and they had a free shipping thing going automatically and then I got another $10 through google.

worked fine for me. you could let me test your gc. ;)

So people are basing opinions on Google Checkout primarily because they have an initial coupon offerring? What happens when they discontinue the coupon?

The poll doesn't even make sense anyways. Google Checkout doesn't have all the features of PayPal, and we don't even know yet if or even when Google Checkout matches PayPal's features, that Google Checkout is going to be any better. Just because it has the word Google in it doesn't guarantee that it is God's gift to mankind...

I wonder how much money Google is loosing on this
Well their customer service sure as hell isn't any better than Paypal's. I've been dealing with GC customer service since yesterday morning because they don't understand why when I signed up for GC for the $10 sign-up bonus isn't being applied. They keep asking me if I signed up at Sports Authority first and then signed up for GC.

It's gotten so bad it's to the point where I've led them by the hand, mouse click by mouse click, and they didn't understand. So then I accompanied each movement I had previously provided them with screenshots. YES. Screenshots. Fvckers still don't know what's going on.

And THEN they had the nerve to send me a GC Customer Service satisfaction survey about 15 minutes ago. Stupid fvckers. They're not done fixing my problem yet and they want me to provide them with a satisfaction survey?

I wonder if their customer service isn't outsourced to India. Or maybe it's France or Canada or something. The customer service agent I'm dealing with is named Michel. Blech.

*apologizes to any Michels on AT - unless you work for GC and you're my CS agent and in that case I'd appreciate it if you fixed the fvcking problem*

Wow. I really didn't mean that to be a rant. But oh well. LOL
PayPal has customer service?
While I'm sure nobody gives a crap, I decided I would post more a follow-up on my rant above regarding Google Checkout's customer service. I hope and pray that none of you have to go through this EVER in your lives with them. Here goes....

After hearing nothing from them in TWO days, I sent an email to the CS agent assigned to helping me a little after 10:00 AM Central time this morning. His/her name is Michel. This is what I sent with the subject being "Is anybody there? Issue #85******",

"Hi. I contacted Google Checkout customer service on Sunday, November
26th, 2006 to resolve the issue of the $10 sign-up promotion not being
applied to my order.

I have not heard from anybody (Michele was the person 'assisting' me) in
two days. Yesterday, I received a GC Customer Service survey asking me to
rate my experience with GC Customer Service as if my issue (#85******) had
been resolved.

It has not been resolved. The $10 sign-up is not being applied. Signing
up for Google Checkout so far as been a fruitless and discouraging
experience and I will be encouraging every one of my fellow forum and
message board members to NOT sign up for Google Checkout.

I realize I am just one person (and not a rich person at that) but I am a
person nonetheless that has the ability to communicate and express my
displeasure not only here in this email to your customer service
department but to anybody out there on the internet to read.

Now wait for this one. You'll laugh. Google 'Google Checkout' and
'Customer Service' and see what you find. It seems I'm not the only one
out there having the same experience I am with your CS department. It
almost seems as if a CS department for Google Checkout does not exist.

At this point, just a tiny part of me still thinks there might be somebody
there, a live human being, actually reading this that will try to help me
and not just reply with an auto-response. But I doubt it.

Lori ****"

I just got this response from Michel at 6:50 PM.

"Hello Lori,

Thank you for your response. Just to answer your question, I'm still here.
I apologize for the delay. We have a solution, however I can't disclose
that information at this time. However, you will be receiving an email
from me within the next day or so. I believe you'll be satisfied with the
outcome. I have your email open and am ready to send out the solution as
soon as I'm able. Thanks for your patience and I'll keep you posted.

Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any additional
questions.

Sincerely,

Michel
The Google Checkout Team"

WTF? They have a solution but they can't tell me?
