I remember hearing that GC wasn't a "Paypal killer", but I've certainly been using it, especially with Buy.com.

What do you guys think? I definitely prefer it over Paypal when I have a choice.

It would be nice to see it grow and become more mainstream...Paypal needs competition

Right now... no. It doesn't seem to be good for person to person transactions, it's more for person to business transactions right now.

I've never had problems with PayPal and have used it for a long time now. It's convenient, fast, and a lot of merchants accept it at this point. So unless online stores start taking this Google checkout BS instead, I'm sticking with PayPal.

I wouldn't call GC "Paypal Killer," yet. It competes with Paypal at a minor segment; it doesn't allow individuals (not merchants) to collect funds and such like Paypal (again, yet).

How does this saving $20 thing work? Is it only good for the first purchase?

I don't think it competes at all.

The reason PayPal is offered at many online stores is so people can pay with a bank account, GCO cannot do this.

It is impossible to initiate a payment with PayPal, so it does not work for personal things.

Perhaps if it was an option to use on eBay I would add it to my auctions, but it isn't, so all it is is a way to save 40% at Buy.com.

Well their customer service sure as hell isn't any better than Paypal's. I've been dealing with GC customer service since yesterday morning because they don't understand why when I signed up for GC for the $10 sign-up bonus isn't being applied. They keep asking me if I signed up at Sports Authority first and then signed up for GC.

It's gotten so bad it's to the point where I've led them by the hand, mouse click by mouse click, and they didn't understand. So then I accompanied each movement I had previously provided them with screenshots. YES. Screenshots. Fvckers still don't know what's going on.

And THEN they had the nerve to send me a GC Customer Service satisfaction survey about 15 minutes ago. Stupid fvckers. They're not done fixing my problem yet and they want me to provide them with a satisfaction survey?

I wonder if their customer service isn't outsourced to India. Or maybe it's France or Canada or something. The customer service agent I'm dealing with is named Michel. Blech.

*apologizes to any Michels on AT - unless you work for GC and you're my CS agent and in that case I'd appreciate it if you fixed the fvcking problem*

Wow. I really didn't mean that to be a rant. But oh well. LOL

Paypal has been the biggest pain in my rear end in the short history of my using the internet to do anything. If I can avoid it, I will never do business with them again.

When I buy things online these days, I search for merchants who accept Google Checkout, and if no one does, I don't buy online. Simple as that.

I have never had problems either. But I always cross my fingers when I sell an expensive item on ebay and use paypal.
