I share pictures with a small group of friends, so this seems like a good way to do it. Beats the hell out of FWD messages. And google wave is too powerful for my needs. Certified noob.

Gmail comes in DOS?

if you're referring to the threads where I said I still use DOS every day (which I do) thumbs up for remembering, and even though this isn't a serious question from you I'll bite. No, Gmail doesn't work in Bobcat which is the only reliable DOS web browser I've came across.

If Google integrates this with Gmail I'm out the door.

I didn't see it on mine, but I reloaded and sure enough it's there. Back to Yahoo Mail for me, fuck you Google.

Really?
One link is enough to send you packing back to Yahoo Mail? The fucking tremendously horrible webmail service that caters to the likes of newbs & soccer moms everywhere?

Want Social Mail?
Posted Feb 9th 2010 12:45PM by the Mail Team

To help you keep on top of your social network, we've added Lifestream to the Mail AIM plug-in. Lifestream not only allows you to get updates from all your social networks, but also to easily publish your status and broadcast it to your Buddies.

View updates from your friends, no matter which social network they frequent, including Digg, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and YouTube. Flexible privacy settings
keep you in control of how you and your social network interact.

So have some fun and give it a try. You'll find it right next to your Buddy List.

AOL has a social email offering

I can't help but consider AOL completely irrelevant these days...
I work at kinkos... They have computer rental stations customers can use to check their email, etc. It's completely ridiculous how many n00bs need help logging into their own email account. Back when I used to help customers more (I'm a tech now) I helped at least 1 person a day login to Yahoo or Hotmail, etc. I think I only saw customers using AOL a handful of times in over a year...

So... AOL is dead IMHO.

No, this is just the straw that broke the camels back. My biggest issue is whenever I get an email from somebody on Gmail, it automatically adds them to my chat on the side bar, it's a pain in the ass to remove them. And there's no option to turn this auto add shit off. I see an option to not let them see me online unless I allow access, but why the fuck is it adding everyone? Gmail seems to want to dictate how I do shit. This Buzz thing pushed it over the edge.

Wow. Too hard to click "turn off Buzz" at the bottom of the page?

Why should I have to turn off something I didn't turn on in the first place? I signed up for Gmail, which I was lead to believe was an email service. Now I get free built in bullshit social networking. Thanks, but no thanks Google.

FoBoT, I suppose you are right.
Talks of switching from Gmail to Yahoo Mail made my old sarcasm meter crash & burn.

Oh, and...
AOL should stay alive enough to keep their AIM servers running, so I can use them ad-free with Trillian or Pidgin, on the rare occasion I have a need to contact one of my old friends using AIM.

The killer thing about this is in the maps app on Android. It is really cool to have geo tagged "tweets" like this. It is like Twitter, Yelp, etc. all in one.

Simple, I just don't use Gmail chat as I have no need for it.

What better way to drive adoption? Did it piss you off when they enabled https for all users by default?

So... Turn off Buzz, turn off Chat, and you'll have your email service you want. The best webmail email service.

I wish it'd integrate Facebook, then I'd never have to go there to do updates or look at family stuff.

seems pretty dumb.

not even a slim majority of my friends use gmail (most either use work email or still have their old hotmail/yahoo/aol email accounts that they've been using since high school)
