I swapped my sim card for a new one on the first device, no luck. I've seen more than enough posts about people having poor signal where they used to be good that it's not too isolated.

Update dropped today for all pixels except the 6's. Those will come mid month.

Tech support person at Verizon said I will get a new Pixel 6 pro shipped to me on January 12th. Will be returning the refurb they sent me as it honestly gets warmer than my original one plus the FPS is just not as snappy. If the December and January updates do not fix the cell signal issue, I will sell the new replacement device and just buy a Galaxy S21 5G.

She also said they have been getting a reasonable amount of calls by Pixel 6 owners complaining about weak cell signals.

Are the S21's Samsung's new models or are people waiting for the s22's?

Never imagined I would be considering a Samsung but if the battery lasts longer on mobile data, that would definitely help out when I go back to the office.

I noticed yesterday with 5g on all day and no wifi the phone did get very warm on mobile data after some consecutive use.

First I'm gonna wait until I get the December update to see if that helps. Looks like a lot of fixes, mostly reminds me of an Android dev preview change log, not an actual release.

Not sure if this is true for the 6 pro but when I got my 4a 5g I read something from Google saying you get better cellular performance if you enable both esim and a physical sim. Not sure that applies to Verizon or not I'm on Fi.

Actually the S22 will come out late January. I'll see if the camera gets a bit better, but yeah, I am seriously considering a Samsung phone - my first one since the S4. I mean I hear they are much easier to make the interface like a Pixel now just by using old faithful NOVA - which I run on Pixels anyway - most of the bloatware you can fully uninstall now, and a few things you can only disable. You can turn the bixby button into the google assistant button - I think without root. Plus they are getting good with security updates. There are a few things even better like being able to change screen brightness with one swipe down of the notification bar, there are multiple little things like this that I read are nicer on Samsung now.

I mean I have to wait until mid-January for the new phone but that is good, I'll have two updates to see if they fix shit. Definitely do the same. I really want to stay with Google but I need better reception at least.

Are you you guys with weak signal on Verizon? I haven't noticed an issue with mine on Fi, seems pretty much the same as my previous phone.

I'm on TMobile (MetroPCS specifically) and I also have not had any issues with signal.

I'm on Verizon. I have seen posts by people with weaker signal on T-Mobile as well in the US, as well as folks who didn't post what carrier they are on, plus folks on multiple carriers overseas on reddit.

Just saw a new thread about this on reddit with people saying they've noticed it and others have not.

I just paid off my Pixel 5 on AT&T yesterday and requested a device unlock so I can sell it. However I will be putting in my Verizon sim into it and checking signal strength comparison on 5G and 4G and see what the difference is before I put it on Swappa

My Pixel 6 Pro experience has been pretty good overall since launch. Addons: Spigen TPU and Caseology Vault case.

The fingerprint reader works 99% of the time with a TPU protector installed even before that random mid month update. I tried an ebay tempered glass that "works with fingerprint sensor" but it sucked big time. The sensitivity overall was horrible, I turned on high sensitivity and it was just an un-even experience. The FP wouldn't register half the time and I got really annoyed. I ended up returning it and putting on another TPU.

Previously coming from a Pixel 3 (battery sucks) and 11 Pro (battery is excellent), the battery life is good not great for me. I noticed my mobile standby daily is averaging around 20-30% daily and using bluetooth is a high drain. There is no option on AT&T to switch to LTE so I couldn't try it.

Android 12 hasn't been too buggy for me but I had to get used to huge everything, esp the drop down controls. I had to adjust my fonts to small and it helped out a bit. The internet control from the drop down sucks big time, but I see they are tweaking that with the next update. I noticed bluetooth is randomly wonky with calls, sometimes in my car I get the robot effect on the other end of the call and need to hang up and call again.

Camera: Coming directly from a P3, there are some improvements in quality and color accuracy. Since it's a bigger sensor, I had to train myself to shoot differently with closer objects because I was getting the blur outside the main focus. The one downside is it sometimes overprocesses hdr and sharpness so some photos and people sometimes look like cut-outs if you zoom in.

Sometimes this phone gets hot with general use, i'm guessing they need more tweaking with Tensor. I'm patiently awaiting Monday's update to hope smooth out battery life a little bit and overall tweaks here and there. I saw it listed camera improvements, i'm curious to see if they adjusted anything to the processing....

When I opened my camera app last night to take a picture, it prompted me to DL the new camera software. Just wondering what they tweaked. No noticeable difference in the pictures I took.

I unlocked my pixel 5 and tried the verizon sim in there. The service at my place is still poor no matter which tower it connects to (there are 4 cell sites that connect depending what room I am in) - it seemed the Pixel 5 held onto one tower a bit better than the 6 pro, but in general, it's still not very good service. So apparently in my case the Pixel 6 pro is just about as good as the 5, it's Verizon's network is just not that good anymore in areas it was known as the best. Apparently Verizon has acknowledged their network is 'suffering' a bit lately. https://piunikaweb.com/2021/12/04/v...-4g-wireless-network-issues-fix-in-the-works/

although I see a lot of these threads, seems to be more a network problem for me vs a device issue
I ordered an unlocked Pixel 6 pro from Google since T-Mobile does not stock the 256GB at all, I'll take that to T-Mobile, pay off my Verizon phone, unlock it and sell it.

Got the December update. The fingerprint sensor is much more consistent now. Unlocks pretty much every time and its also a little quicker too.

Didn't see anything crazy with the camera. Viewfinder is still a bit grainy in low light.

The battery isn't much better, I've disabled 5g because I think it sucks on MetroPCS. I'm thinking of moving my sister, mother and myself to TMobile instead to see if that helps with coverage and data speed.

LTE speed is like 20-30mb and 30-40mb on 5G so using a partner of TMobile like Metro is probably on the weaker data bands?

So, how do I know if I got the Dec update from T-mo? My phone shows build SD1A.210817.037 T-mo doesn't have anything on their website about the update.

If you got the update your build number under system settings about phone should be this.

it's pretty random who gets it. People on the Android Central forums have been checking all day. Everyone that hasn't gotten it spans all the carriers. Should all get it this week. Excited to see some of the fixes.

More excited for when Google ships my unlocked 256GB that's supposed to be here by the 22nd so I can go to T-Mobile and get good service.

Verizon used to be so good around here, I can't believe how much it's gone down.

I think it was really stupid to focus on the 5GUW. I mean we have it around here and it barely covers any area, and it's outdoors. Who needs 600Gbps walking on a sidewalk? I'm not tethering my phone to four laptops simultaneously streaming 4K while I am hanging outside.

They should have spent the money making sub 6 5G really really good coverage. T-Mobile has a better strategy.

I dunno what's going on with MetroPCS but this morning I turned off wifi and did a speed test.

11-13mb on LTE and like 15-20mb on 5G. Pretty ridiculous. It wasn't much faster before either.

I wonder if going straight to TMobile with my family plan would be better. But metro is owned by T-Mobile so not sure if that matters.

Really depends on location... I get 100Mbs on 5G in certain parts of town and 400Mbs at my sister's house in Atlanta. Other areas, barely 10. Crazy how spotty it is.

Yea I figured at least with LTE it would be better. In terms of coverage.

I used to get full bars in my apartment at the beginning of November when I moved here.

Not sure what happened to the towers but end of November through now im only getting 1-2 bars.

Not related to the latest update either, just strange.

Google needs to do something about this always on display idle drain. I lose about 2-2.8% per hour using always on display. On the 4XL the same feature took about .4% an hour.
