There's absolutely no way the engineers who designed the Switch / Dock didn't see the scratching issue.
It MUST have been reported at some point. It's also why it just so happens that they've prepared for it by coincidentally selling us a separate officially-branded screen protector from day one. You know, instead of including it with the console because it's an inherent problem that comes from the very [bad] design of the Dock itself. Make no mistakes, the people who make the games at Nintendo are definitely not the same as the ones who make the hardware, as well as the ones who create the business models for their products. Some of them are crass, and the whole screen scratching issue was seen internally long ago as a potential extra source of revenue. In my book there's absolutely no other explanations for this.
They might, one day, release a 'revised' Switch version with maybe, just maybe a different Dock model, or they'll include their official screen protector in future bundles; but not before at least two years from now. If there's enough (a crap load) of social pressure about it then maybe they'll accelerate for a 'solution', but do not count on a massive recall of their units. That just won't happen.
