Why so much hate for GameSpy? I used them back in the mid 90's for all my quake games quake world. I had not used them after 2000 once I got into Everquest so what ever happened after that must be where all the hate comes from. I will miss game GameSpy for all the nostalgia with Quake.

Haven't used Gamespy for ages, but yeah, when it was the Quakespy/Gamespy client in the early days it was pretty much the go-to server browser. It was eventually taken over by the likes of ASE and HLSW, though.

I just read the wiki on GameSpy and see this. Now I know were all the came from.

"GameSpy was then bought from IGN Entertainment by Glu Mobile in August 2012,[2] and proceeded in December to rise integration costs and shut down servers for many older games, including Star Wars: Battlefront, Sniper Elite and Neverwinter Nights, with no warning to developers or consumers, much to the outrage of communities of those games.[

I tried Kali with MechWarrior 2 on a 28.8K connection. What a horrible experience.

Quakespy was good. It was better than looking up a server IP on Stomped, switching back to Quake and typing in "connect " then the IP.

I remember trying to play Duke3D over Kali. It worked ok, but I wasn't a fan of the interface, plus you had to pay for the full version. I was a poor teenager at the time so QS/GS got the nod. ;)

I found a notepad the other day with my kali data in it, maybe I should fire it up :)
