Here's a few i've watched:

Saving Private Ryan
Band of Brothers
Patton
Pearl Harbor
Windtalkers
U-571
The Thin Red Line
Enemy At the Gate
Europa Europa!
The Pianist

The Big Red One <- This one has Luke Skywalker
Force 10 from Navarone <- This one has Han Solo

Edit: How could I forget my favorite, The Dirty Dozen.

Edit: don't miss Kelly's Heros

Edit: Battle of the Bulge <- the 1965 version

Edit: The Longest Day (1962)

The Thin Red Line is the best of all those you listed in the OP IMO.

Saving Private Ryan, while a good show on a home theatre, isn't nearly as powerful as The Thin Red Line.

Watching thousands of people get mowed down on the beaches was "realistic" but only for a small part of the war. You like the hype too much. The whole war wasn't fought on a beach or through a single good paratrooper division.

THR is realism in the pacific.

SPR for realism? You've got to be kidding me...

As for World War II movies, I try to stay away from those that are out done...

Band of Brothers - Absolutely Amazing
Thin Red Line - Watched it once and thought it was werid. Will have to watch it again
Saving Private Ryan - Lots of historical inaccurracy and other inaccurracy, still a damn good movie...
We Were Soliders - Absolutely Amazing, I don't care if it's vietnam. It's a good war movie.

Ive never been in a war so I dunno, but SPR seemed pretty damn realistic to me...more so than the dozens of other WWII movies out there.

the photography part and the special effects is realistic, but i think the people are referring to the portrayal of the war
