Better if the learned how to take photos. What did he use, a camera phone?

Wait, according to the EXIF data he used a Nikon D60.
WHAT THE FUCK MAN!???!? How could you possibly mess up with that bad boy?
OK, first lesson.
Your settings of 1s shutter, f 5.3 and ISO 1400 are totally bad.
Force the ISO to 100 or 200. Do NOT use auto white balance. Ever. It always gives the worst results, I promise. Manually set the white balance to whatever you were using (incandescent or flourescent) and use a good tripod. Given the lighting involved you probably wont be able to get a very short shutter, but if she sits down she'll be able to keep still for 1/125th to 1/30th of a second. In this scenario I would have to use a shorter lens to keep the noticeble movement to a minimum. Perhaps a 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor. Of course that may distort some of her features a bit.
Ideally you would get far back with a zoom lens (like around 300mm) but with a long shutter you are asking for all kinds of problems, even if you have Image Stabilization. According to the data, you are using the kit lens, right? That means no IS. You may have to invest in some more lenses soon. The kit lens is actually pretty darn good, but not as great as other stuff which costs more.
Dude, you need lighting, seriously.
