The Rockets are about to cause an international incident since Yao needs to sit out a few months to rehab his foot (ever since he got that infection in his toe corrected, he has been on a TEAR!). The Chinese team wants him for the World Championships this summer, but his foot will not have fully healed by then.

which could be very bad if he reinjures it and at 310 lbs that is a ton of weight to be put on that foot. Read about Zydrunas Ilgauskas foot problems, and he is smaller 7'3 260lbs compared to 7'6 310lbs.

Now that is looking at the sunny side of a craptacular season.

Sure is...

OP: What advantage did the Rockets actually sucking have over them just pretending to suck so they could get a draft pick?

Hell, if they fake-sucked for three or four years in a row, they could have that many top 5 draft picks.

yao was a fvcking monster the second half. he averaged like 26 and 13 and had multiple monster games, basically a one man team keeping the rockets in contention while mcgrady was out.

First off, Yao has to be one of the most overrated players in the NBA of recent memory.

Second, the Rockets will go nowhere if TMac and Yao can't shake the injury bug. Both have been riddled with injuries over their careers.

What have you been smoking? Did you watch basketball this season? Stat-wise Yao is the best center in the entire league this season, Shaq included. You don't call a guy who averages 20/10 overrated.

*COUGH*

Do you watch basketball? Yao was a MONSTER in the 2nd half of the season. Also, when was the last time a guy over 7'3" approach even close to half the #'s Yao puts up? The hate on Yao is astonishing, considering how hard it was for him to transition to this culture (watching Year of the Yao). And unlike a lot of other NBA players he's a model citizen. He also has no off-season as he had to play for China every summer while the rest of NBA can rest up. Article / Yao Video

I think tmac's bad back was the best thing to happen to Yao. Something seemed to click in him regarding what it means to be a team's star leader, and the responsibility that carries. Seems like he's finally learned to get a little nasty.

They won last night which hurt them in the long run. They will prob get a 9th or 10th pick and none of those players you mentioned will be drafted that low.

it is a lottery draft so they do have a chance to win it
and get a top 3 pick 🙂

Yeah, but not much of one

1. 250 combinations, 25% chance of receiving the #1 pick

2. 199 combinations, 19.9% chance

3. 156 combinations, 15.6% chance

4. 119 combinations, 11.9% chance

5. 88 combinations, 8.8% chance

6. 63 combinations, 6.3% chance

7. 43 combinations, 4.3% chance

8. 28 combinations, 2.8% chance

9. 17 combinations, 1.7% chance

10. 11 combinations, 1.1% chance

11. 8 combinations, 0.8% chance

12. 7 combinations, 0.7% chance

13. 6 combinations, 0.6% chance

14. 5 combinations, 0.5% chance

theres a huge dropoff in percentages at around #9

The Rockets had almost no chance at landing Yao. Lightning can strike twice.

CPA is a Nuggets fan. 🙂 He can't help being envious. All he's get is that memory of Dikembe Mutumbo rolling around on his back after te Nugs punked the Sonics in that series.

yeah but they didn't make the playoffs, right?
I am not glad the knicks sucked so badly this year for the same reasons.

DOn't worry. Isaiah will screw it up for you. He's an incredible GM.
