Im making some Rum Balls, but I'll havea bunch left over...so whats some good rum?

Captain Morgans...Bacardi...?

Cruzan rum. The authentic stuff, not that flavored yuppie crap they pass off. You may haveto have it ordered, all I can find on the shelf is thecoconut flavored yuppie crap. If you dont see dark Cruzan rum, ask if they can order it.

The bottle looks like this, in the upper left corner. (Its theonly pic I have of my rum, disregard the rest of the stuff)

like 40ish for that size bottle

you probably want plain rum in your rum balls.. instead of spiced.

I found this recipe the other day.. calls itself "puerto rican eggnog". I dislike eggnog, but there were no eggs nor nutmeg (I especially dislike nutmeg) in this one so I tried it... and it's pretty tasty. 🙂 so maybe you'd like to use some of your extra rum in a batch of it.

it asks for
2 15oz cans of coco lopez (coconut cream)
2 12 oz cans of evaporated milk
750 ml of light rum
splash of vanilla
pinch of salt
sprinkle of cinnamon, to taste, not more than 1tsp (I just used a few shakes).

and you just mix it all up and put it in a bottle and chill it.. and shake it before you serve it.
now.. I only made a half a batch because I wasn't sure it would be as tasty as it sounded, and I think when I make more (because it is, as tasty as it sounded) I'll hot up the coco lopez a bit to make it a more homogenous substance before I mix in the other stuff.. but it's pretty tasty stuff. 🙂

so.. get some bacardi silver for your rum balls and make some puerto rican eggnog with what's left. 🙂

I actually took it as an ATFE picture (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives)

So, theres the firearms, the alcohol, the tobacco and the explosives. But as I said, its the only pic I have of the rum so.....

Coquito my good man 😀

More or less. Depends on what the family tradition is. We like a strong, high proof rum in ours. Color is oblivious to us. It's going down your throat, not as a centerpiece. We use real coconut milk, & add coco lopez to even out the sweetness. A little egg white too; fresh, not cooked. The rest is some sort of deep family secret. They wont tell me until more people in my family die & I move up the ladder.

Wow, I had no idea Cruzan is considered so good. My local Medic drugstore that's going out of business has tons of bottles. Picked up a 750ml bottle for just under $12. Now I'm gonna have to go back and get more.
