Good restaurants in San Jose?

What are some good restaurants in San Jose? Not too pricey (we're college students, anything over 15-20$ is really expensive).

I second Original Joes. Also BJ's pub and brewery in Cupertino is good, there's also Rock Bottom in Campbell. Both are fairly close to San Jose.

Gah! That is crap.

Try Maggiano's Little Italy in Santana Row. Great food.

maggiano's is nice but speido's is better.
Also there's this other place in Santana row, indonesian food place? Forgot the name, heard it's good though.

Don't go to Village Cafe however, not very good for the price.

Pizza Antiqua in Santana Row.

Also Left Bank for French food and Straits Cafe for Singaporean food. Both very good.

Edit: Left Bank and Straits are probably out of that price range.

Theres always Tung Kee Noodle House somewhere in downtown. $5 or less.

I love that place, I live 2 blocks from #1 😀

I get sick of it fast though. For an occasional place, another vote for the Spaghetti Factory.

Oh man I can't stand Left Bank, but then again, I am not very fond of French Restaurants. Partially because I love chicken and French restaurants don't really specialize in chicken, only duck.

Straits, that's the name. I heard it's expensive, still very good.

what's the dress code at Original Joes? If we have a party of 12, how early should we get there on a Tuesday night? I know they dont' make reservations...

LOL...I lived off New Tung Kee when I was at SJSU. I think there was one on 5th St. and San Salvador, not too far from campus.

I also went to Grandes and La Victoria alot. I would get the linguine w/ red clam sauce at Grandes, then I would hit up La Victoria at 2AM for some beef nacho's 😛

Iguana's has super burritos the size of your forearm.

New Tung Kee rules! I get it at least once a week. They have cheap, fast Vietnamese soups and noodles. #6 is the best!

we already decided on Original Joes, we'll go back soon and try some of the others though, I love experiencing new restaurants. Can anyone answer my second question though? (what's the dress code at Original Joes? If we have a party of 12, how early should we get there on a Tuesday night? I know they dont' make reservations... )

Its not that fancy... when are you going? We should meet up!

Maggiano's is good. If you are just looking for a simple pizza place, Jake's in Willow Glen is great. I love thier BBQ Chicken Pizza. I've also heard The Glen in Willow Glen is good, but I've never been there myself, even though I live down the street.

Yeah, seriously! A second after you order, the food comes! Oh well, at least it tastes good! They have really good combination bean drinks too.

so what's better. New Tung Kee, or TK noodle? Rumor has it that they're now run independently by brothers who used to be partners. They had a fall out of some sort.

the TK noodle i think is on 6th and William, south side of campus
