Ok, this is how I see things after visiting all 3 product pages.

The ES8025SC and ES8023SC are pretty much the exact same thing, the ES8025SC is priced $10 more because it has a voltage feature so that it can be used in the U.S. or in Europe (110v through 240v) While the latter, ...23SC only works on 110-120v lines, for the most part, in the US. And the only other difference is, the cheaper one's battery lasts for 7 shaves, while the other lasts for 12, which isn't a big deal.

Now, the ES8017SC has a pop-out trimmer, but the others have a Full Width Trimmer?, not sure if this is the pop-out type or not. Another thing is, this one is listed as NO for wet/dry, meaning you shouldn't take it into the shower as the WHOLE thing can't get wet, but obviously you allowed to clean the head with water whenever it needs to be cleaned. It also does NOT come with a stand. This one also has the voltage conversion feature, for 110v-240v, but if you live in the US, you don't need it. $90, probably isn't worth it. (MSRP that is)

From looking them over, the ES8023SC $79.99 MSRP looks reasonable. It has a 5-minute quick charge, battery only lasts for 7 shaves, but that is good enough, comes with a stand, and has a low battery indicator, which is good enough, no need for the 5-stage led indicator like the more expensive one has.

They all have the same motor, and use the same blades, so no differences there.

This is all just my take on things and my opinion, but it looks from these product pages that the ES8023SC is the one to buy. You don't need the ES8025SC if you live in the US, as you won't put the voltage conversion feature to use. This one does infact have a sideburn trimmer.

[edit] The one I picked got good epinions too, even though a lot of people on epionions write some crummy reviews, at least the ones about this shaver were all positive. link to epinions page about this shaver [/edit]

[edit2] There's one on ebay right now with current bid of $41 (the ES8023SC that is) and it's brand new, unopened packaging. Shipping is a rip off at $10, It'll probably reach $60-70 and then add on the $10 shipping, heck, I think i'll buy it from wal-mart for $79.96, Wal-mart would take it back 3 months later if I don't like it, heh [/edit2]

W00t! I just found a 20% off coupon for Bed, Bath & Beyond sitting in my bedroom! :D I hope they have the Panasonic models I'm looking at.

y00ycdz, thanks for the info. I think I will go with the ES8023SC if I can find it around here. I like the ES8017SC because it seems to have NiMH rather than NiCD batteries, but it can't be used wet.

One last question: Do all these "straight" (compared to a Norelco) electric razors have the cut hair retention area that my cheap Norelco has? It's very handy when I'm off at school since I can just shave in my room with no problems.

I bought the ES8023SC at my local Target B&M. It was the last Panasonic shaver they had in the store.

One thing to be aware of for people used to Norelco is these straight-foil shavers don't catch the cut hairs like the Norelcos do.

I have a norelco about $70 at walmart.com. I've never used anything else, but all I know is with this one I have to really scrape my face with it on several passes to get a fairly close shave.

It's probably a little late now, but I thought I'd throw in that my local Target had a number of electric shavers clearanced at 75% off.

I scored a midline cordless Norelco (Philips) for $16.25, normally $64.99. It was still marked at only 30% off, which is probably why no one had bought it yet. Sweet deal because I liked my old Norelco but I recently broke it.

Oh my goodness! Someone help me find a Panasonic Linear shaver!!!! They're nowhere to be found! I can't find the 8036N which I really like and I can't find the 8023SC except at outpost.com... I want to shop for a good price on Panasonic Linear shavers, but it seems no one carries them... all that everyone has are those Norelcos *sigh* Anyone know of a B&M store that still carry those? Or at least a good online store? I really like the 8036N because it has the 5-stage battery indicator, which would be a fun toy.

Well Target had the one Panasonic that I bought. The 8023SC is very nice. The batteries last a long time. I've only charged it once or twice in the last month. I'd just suggest buying it online.
