In fairness, probably 2/3 of all drivers never come to a full stop at stop signs, especially four-way stops. I know I often don't. What I take issue with, and what is certainly a more frequent issue with cyclists than with drivers, is people who just ignore that the stop sign/red light is even there, and careen through the intersection at full speed. That is very dangerous and people should be cited for it.

Cool, glad you clarified.

🙄

You're going to be dead anyway. It's inevitable. Now do you want to live your life and do the things you want to do and enjoy doing or do you want to cower in fear of something that is going to happen to you eventually anyway, never having done some of the things you wanted to do?

I'm going to prolong it as long as possible, if not for me, then for my family.

You and I live in areas not exposed to what most people are touching on. I've never seen an aggressive cyclists here. Mindless, yes. In other areas in the country they outright try to punk your car.

I think this has a LOT to do with it.

In my area, which is not a modern progressive stoned utopia, people are awake and aware of the danger and traffic ciclists cause on the roadways.

I ride my bike from time to time, but won't do it on the road. While it technically may be legal, I also know it is dumb because of the drivers around me. Same thing with riding a motorbike. While its legal to do it and many do, I value my life too much for fear of what the other person will do, whether its merge into my lane because they didnt see me, or I hit a deer or other creature that runs out in front of me, or whatever. It's just not worth it. So, I ride on the sidewalk (which is safe to do due to their size), and then on trails that are meant for bikes to ride on. What would you rather be, right, or dead?

This is how it should be.

We walk often, and the polite bicyclists cruise on the sidewalk and there's plenty of room for 2-way traffic.

Problem is, these lance armstrong wanna-bes can't buzz down the sidewalk at 15mph because "walkers" get in the way.

Shoot, even the clip on leotard wearing TRUE assholes refuse to ride in the bicycle lane. In this thread they're making a point that the lowly n00b bicyclists hold them back so they must share the road with 4000lb cars.

That's what REALLY baffles me... That these moronic ciclists have major issues with using bike lanes because they are held up by traffic going 10% slower than them... Yet have no problem clogging up major roadways while they furiously pedal uphill holding back people trying to get to work.

Reading your posts makes one thing perfectly clear and that is that you are out of your tiny little mind.

...Or you can ride safely, and get home to your family rather than being driven to the hospital or morgue.

...They are absolutely hated by most drivers and for good reason.

I'm confused. You hate cyclists because you are deeply concerned about their safety?

Quit being a whiny pussy all up in other people's business. If cyclists are doing stupid dangerous illegal shit running stop signs then just run them over. Otherwise STFU.

I am a motorcyclist with 300k+ street miles under my belt. I've done countless track days, cross country trips, commuted through rain and snow, rode in every environment imaginable.

And I think these ciclists who ride on the roadways are total morons from a safety-perspective.

In my area, at least, they are remarkable dangerous and have complete disregard for both the law and their safety.

Literally 9/10 of them run both stop signs and red lights. They will block traffic for literally miles, "holding the lane", then at the first red light they will stupidly filter back to the front of the same 20++ cars they just held up, who had to dangerously pass them even though there's a (nearly) empty bike lane that we motorists paid for.

They're idiots. Riding on the road during rush hour is an absolutely moronic thing to do. We have bike lanes here, almost everywhere, yet the same tards that are in this thread insist on riding on the roadway.

I give them at least 10 ft of room when I pass. I won't even go within 3ft of them (that's the law) because they are so unpredictable. I tap my horn, then pass them as quickly as possible.

Thank goodness the cops are fed up. Everyone in my area is fed up. The laws are now against them, cops don't believe them, and they did it to themselves.

And spare me the BS about you "pay for the road too". I pay tax/registration/tag/insurance on all of my vehicles, boat, trailers. Anything on the road pays these exact same fees... Except ciclist. But that's changing very quickly.

As a community, you ciclists need to change these things. You are hated by the people who pay for the road you ride on. Rather than defend the morons, you need to laugh at them, mock them.

Stop supporting the morons.

as a cyclist, totally agreed. i do think a bicycle is quite a bit different than a car and quite a bit different than a pedestrian and as such at stop lights you slow down significantly, take a look both ways and then progress if the coast is clear and that should be cool. just like every pedestrian jaywalks and doesn't get cited for it because really, it's a stupid rule. now if you try to JUST make it past an oncoming car, you are an asshole. but if there is zero traffic coming your way it should be cool.

but blasting through stop signs and/or red lights at full speed = asshole cyclist.

I have the right to be angry. I got hit by one biker, who rode the wrong way and slammed into my brand new car. The asshole tried to ask me for money and I only lucked out that there was an unmarked police car right behind me who witnessed everything.

Second time, dude crashed into my front fender, laughed at me and drove away while I was stuck at a red light.

F these guys. I've seen more jackass bikers than lawful ones. The amount of asshattery has been multiplied greatly by the new Citibike n00bs. Holy shit I can't stand them.

maybe you have bad luck. i've rode in the city a bunch, i've seen some d-bag cyclists for sure. definitely in the minority.

Seriously, are you blind? The brake levers are fully depressed. He's leaning heavily right to evade.

It's no wonder you're such a bad driver. You're not even competent enough to watch a video.

Yet every single video you post is of a cyclist riding safely and legally in the bicycle lane. None of your evidence ever supports your allegations.

You have no credibility. You blatantly lied about the cyclist in your video not braking or swerving. Now you're lying about cyclists avoiding the bike lane to block traffic "for literally miles," a complete absurdity. Can you at least attempt to make your bullshit believable?

Watch the video - he coasts into the car then at the very last second does the pseudo brake and swerve... Running directly into the car he should've seen from far far away.

Shrug; there is good reason why people are fed up with these lawless ciclists.

Of all the dumb things I have ever seen you post, and there are many, this might be the dumbest. I have no doubt he did see the car from far away. Presumably he didn't think the car would make a maneuver as illegal and dangerous as cutting him off. This is no "pseudo brake and swerve," it is an emergency evasive maneuver that fails only because he simply doesn't have the space to stop.

Is there a reason you insist on misspelling "cyclists" in all of your vacuous posts?

What these videos show me is that these cyclists are making a poor decision in even being on the roads in the first place. Is it any wonder why people tell you to go "play in traffic" if they hate you?

There are times when you have to also blame the victim.

He's an idiot and he's easily amused... probably got bored of playing with his own poo so this is how he amuses himself.

I have a question, when did cycling become so dangerous? When I was a kid, in the 1970s, I used to ride my bike 2 miles to the store on rural roads in upstate NY with no shoulder and 18 wheelers going past at 55mph. Never even thought twice about it. When I was in high school I was in the cycling club and we road all around the rural areas outside of Albany, NY. Never had any problem. What changed between then and now? Bicycles haven't changed much, cars haven't changed much either. Personally, I think it is the drivers who are the problem. They're too distracted, poorly trained and they don't know the rules. That and people are a bunch of fucking pussies these days.

NOW GET OFF MY LAWN! 😛

You answered your own question. As for pussies - you go explain that to your family while lying in the hospital bed (if you can). "I was brave enough to play in traffic with the general public citizens behind the wheels of 2 ton vehicles going at least twice my speed whom I have zero control over. At least I am not a pussy!"

And for what, really?

I'm going to end this post with another one... some battles are not worth fighting.

I work with guys who commute daily on a bicycle, one of them races professionally. I did it myself 2-3 days a week for 2+ years, had a few close calls but no accidents or injuries, I had idiots throw shit at me, buzz me, honk at me and yell at me just for riding a bike (I always usedthe bike lanes and follow traffic laws-the ones that make sense anyway). I would do it again though if I lived close enough to work. 99% of the time it was very peaceful and a great way to get going in the morning and a great way to unwind in the afternoon.

I also ride a motorcycle, have been for a number of years now, and I honestly think motorcycling is safer than bicycling but I will never stop riding. I love it too much. I'm currently riding mountain bikes mostly but sometimes I'll ride to the trails which means riding on the roads. I even take my son with me. I still have my road bikes and I ride them every now and then, I'll probably switch back and forth over the years.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not going to give up something I've enjoyed my entire life because of a fear I don't have.

No, he doesn't. Reported - for either trolling or being a retard that shouldn't post in biking threads.

Report all you want -

It's like I said, there is good reason why ciclists are hated on most roads nowadays. I do think they're better in some places, but in most areas ciclists are lawless heathens who intentionally impede the roadway.

Still amazed at the people in here claiming bike lanes aren't good enough, and that they impede traffic on the roads because they're impeded in the bicycle lane. Crazy.

I'm a big proponent of bike lanes. We have them on most roads here in San Diego and they do work well to help separate bike traffic from motor vehicle traffic. The biggest problem is keeping cars out of them but law enforcement does help out with this from time to time by setting up traps to catch motorists cutting up through traffic by occupying the bike lanes.
