The big problem, as is evident in this thread, is that even when tax/tag/insurance paying motorists fund the bike lanes the tards refuse to ride in them.

Liar. One poster said that he will temporarily move into the main lane if the bicycle lane is blocked. Another rides in motorized vehicle lanes only when the bicycle lane is crowded and he can match the speed of traffic.

Nobody has said that they avoid bicycle lanes and impede other traffic, and based on your history of dishonesty and incompetence, I'm highly skeptical that you've ever actually seen such a thing. It's certainly not a common occurrence.

Maybe where he lives, cyclists don't ride in the bike lanes? Around here in Orange County, CA, everyone pretty much rides in the bike lane. There are some larger groups that ride 2 or 3 abreast and spill into the adjacent lane but they typically only ride during early morning hours.

Same with San Diego. It just isn't a problem here and we probably have more cyclists on the roads here year round than anywhere else in the country.

Maybe other states should install bicycle lanes on their roadways instead of bitching about cyclists.

But, it is a problem. "There are some larger groups that ride 2 or 3 abreast and spill into the adjacent lane but they typically only ride during early morning hours." They are disregarding the designated bike lane, like ass hats. If a motorcycle group did the same thing, we'd all call them ass hats as well. Same for the people driving into other people's lanes.

So when people voluntarily go play in traffic and get hurt that's not stupid of them?

Don't try to be a troll. It doesn't suit you.

You just want to get off easy. It was a serious question. How is it any different than other foolish actions that get people seriously hurt?

It was indeed a troll question. Your characterizations of traveling by bicycle as "playing in traffic" and a "foolish" action belie your disingenuous statement that the questions of yours that I've quoted here are serious. All you are doing is slinging insults.

So what? :colbert: Here's a thought: Just go around them.

If it were a real problem I'm sure law enforcement would cite them. Personally, I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles on roads all over SoCal and I honestly can't remember the last time a cyclist did anything that overly annoyed me.

I have seen guys turn right on a red light and then just cut across the road they just turned on, turn around and make another right onto the road as if they went straight to avoid the light I've also seen them not come to a complete stop at stop signs. I've seen motorists do equally stupid things (or worse) but if any of this really gets your panties in a knot I'd seriously recommend counseling.

My problem with road cycling is that, even if it is just as dangerous as mountain biking, the danger is almost entirely out of my control. If I know the limits of my skill, mountain biking doesn't have a ton of "someone else not paying attention gets you killed" scenarios. Road cycling has that as the main danger: some moron teenage texting in his/her daddy's SUV.

Again, I think you are over-estimating the danger. And that is your problem. Not mine. I guess if you have a problem with it then you can choose not to do it. Problem solved!

I'm a big proponent of bike lanes. We have them on most roads here in San Diego and they do work well to help separate bike traffic from motor vehicle traffic. The biggest problem is keeping cars out of them but law enforcement does help out with this from time to time by setting up traps to catch motorists cutting up through traffic by occupying the bike lanes.

What's the point....?

Read the thread. Look around. Most of the leotard ciclists refuse to use bike lanes.

This is a huge part of why my city had people showing up actively voicing that they DON'T want their tax money spent on bike lanes. State reps are saying they're receiving huge feedback that citizens do not want their money spent on this.

LEOs have outright said they're cracking down on these lawbreaking ciclists.

I have no problem with a well-behaved ciclist who stays in the bike lane or on the edge of the road. But these morons "holding the lane" are exactly why people hate ciclists nowadays.

I'm telling you that is not the case here. Quite the opposite actually.

I find your comments extremely hard to believe... damned near impossible really. Where on earth do you live anyway?

More to the point, what shithole state does he live in, where, according to SA, cyclists (er, I mean "ciclists") are Public Enemy No. 1? I prefer to live in the second fittest city in the US - http://americanfitnessindex.org/washington-d-c-claims-top-ranking-annual-fit-city-index/ - which also happens to be the second most bike-friendly city in the US - http://www.bicycling.com/news/advoc...Article-_-2012 Best Bicycling Cities#snapback

😳 I stand corrected. But how is the guy supposed to pass given the double yellow line?

Anyone? (Question got lost in the SpatiallyUnAware troll).

And to throw an extra wrench in, at least in Ohio, cyclists are allowed to ride two abreast. Now how is someone supposed to pass them without crossing the double yellow line?

I've been up in the mountains, going 55mph in a 55mph zone around a corner, and come across FOUR ciclists riding side by side.

They have no regard for the law. It is "their" road that we pay for.

In all seriousness, double yellow or not.. I give them at least 10ft of room. They're completely unpredictable.

i and many cars cross a double yellow when passing say a parked delivery truck. right in front of cops and they don't care because they know you have to. as long as you don't do it recklessly just missing an oncoming car.

it's really not rocket science.

depends on the state. in OH...

In Ohio, a driver can legally cross the double yellow line under some conditions:

§4511.31. Hazardous zones

(A) The department of transportation may determine those portions of any state highway where overtaking and passing other traffic or driving to the left of the center or center line of the roadway would be especially hazardous and may, by appropriate signs or markings on the highway, indicate the beginning and end of such zones. …

(B) Division (A) of this section does not apply when all of the following apply:

(1) The slower vehicle is proceeding at less than half the speed of the speed limit applicable to that location.

(2) The faster vehicle is capable of overtaking and passing the slower vehicle without exceeding the speed limit.

(3) There is sufficient clear sight distance to the left of the center or center line of the roadway to meet the overtaking and passing provisions of section 4511.29 of the Revised Code, considering the speed of the slower vehicle.

ok let's just leave it at that you happen to live in a twilight zone where all cyclists are lunatic assholes and all drivers are wonderful.

i suggest changing therapists, the one you have is not working.

I think drivers are absolutely terrible. They're selfish, have no regard for anyone outside of their 4000lb cage, and will run some over due to "sunlight in their eyes" without any thought whatsoever.

That's a huge part of why I feel as though ciclists need to get it together. The motorcyclists get it... Ride like you're invisible.

But ciclists ride as if they're in little tanks or something. When they're holding up a traffic lane going 10mph they then act like it's so surprising that they get run over like useless bugs.

SA, I asked you a question earlier about the spelling of the word cyclists and how you write ciclists, but you didn't respond to it. I'm asking an honest question here when I ask if ciclists has some other meaning behind it, or if it's a habit.

Similar to how some people spell God "G-d". Not saying it's exactly that, but just giving you an example. I'm just curious if ciclists has another reason behind it.

Because he's an idiot that spelt it wrong accidentally a few times and is now pretending that it's done on purpose?

There are group rides that come out of GA and use 2 lane, 55MPH, country roads near here. They'll ride 4 wide, take up the whole lane. 2011, some guy plowed through a group of 15, killing one and sending several to the hospital. Driver got a felony reckless homicide and 90 days

Bless that man.
