Exactly!*

The one and only real Type R

They weren't bad. 190 hp, 2500 lbs., ~30 mpg, fun to drive, good handling, 6.5 sec 0-60, and right at 15.0 sec @ 95 mph 1/4 mile (or better?).

Acutally theyre good for about a 14.5, and it is considered the best handling FWD car ever, along with the highest hp/l at release.
For those displacement freaks who don't understand why hp/l is important, it's an important measure of the efficiency of the motor.

Yeah, they were good cars. But then I bought a GSR back in '98 :)

hehe, if I could have gone brand new back then, I would have definitely gone R..for only a few grand more you're getting LSD/suspension/motor work/etc
but the GSR is definitely more practical/luxury/less attractive to theives.

Yeah, the LSD (limited slip diff for the nefs) would have been a big plus. My biggest complaint was always the torque steer (and cramped headroom for a guy who's 6'2"). At the time though, I just didn't feel that the performance gains made up for the stiffer price tag (dealers were charging a premium for the Type R then while the GSR could be had for under MSRP), and I wanted the luxury of the leather package and the power glass sunroof.
As for thieves, all Integras are attractive to thieves. That's why I got the upgraded security with ignition kill (option that year). Saved my car from being stolen more than once, let me tell ya...

Actually the 1st generation Eclipse/Talon are the best handling FWD car. They have a stock HP of 205 and with a $5 (manual valve for the turbo) part you can boost that up to around 275HP and they are way faster than the Type R's.

I think you mean RETARD..

the type-r was hardly a few thousand less than the gsr. they marked the gsr down and added a lot of extra options just to move them, i was able to grab one for under $20K. if i could have gotten a brand new type-r for under $25K, i would have. mind you, this is in the heart of southern california where the demand was quite high.

I thought the Ford Contour SVT was supposedly the best handling FWD car on the market at the moment...however nobody cares because no true sports car is FWD. :D

I saw an '82 Chevy pick-up with NOS stickers all over it, including a huge one in the rear window.
