Good Deed thread a day early, a/c needed for animal triage.

Can I donate roombas the animals can ride around on so that they don't have to walk? If they have small dogs (or cats) then the roombas should be about the right size.

aces, another self-aggrandizing thread from Alkemyst

perhaps you can collate all your faux-altruism into one thread?

at the very least, you have something to quote now to extend the shower of attention you require on the daily.

I'll be honest this doesn't look legit alkemyst. The website you linked follows to a Paypal with the Payee being "Tri County Humane Society, Inc."

Their own website donation follows to a Paypal Payee of "Tri-County Humane Society"

http://www.tricountyhumanesociety.org/you-can-help/donate

Are you trying to scam?

Edit: I guess you posted on their facebook you sent half. Just a discrepancy between the two paypal names...

None of that makes any sense. A simple yes or no will suffice.

I am counting you do then. If they don't have a use they can sell any donations like these in their store.

I'd expect proof like this though since you are obviously just trolling.

DAFUQ?

My donations are not for the attention of anyone but the charities.

Not only did I edit my post retracting what I said, but you quoted it with the edit.

Their facebook page indicates the need for the a/c unit, and you posted on facebook that you donated about half. That was my mistake. Can't blame me considering the link you posted doesn't even contain the name of the organization requesting the money. Next time post a more transparent link so people can see where their money is going.

I asked you to answer a simple question one way. Why is it so hard?

so since you are not trolling, how much you up for?

Hahaha, keep telling yourself that. If that were true, you wouldn't need to disclose the fact that you donated at all. You could simply post a thread educating people of XYZ charity without having to tell someone that you donated to it. The problem with that though, is that you wouldn't feel morally superior if no one knew.. hence these constant threads.

It's actually quite genius, I gotta give you that. You make it impossible to attack the behavior by hiding behind the fact that any negativity expressed towards you is automatically a slight against the act of charity. Fallacies aside, if you truly cared about being selfless you wouldn't feel the need to constantly remind people of your altruism.

I qualify my statements because even already my actions were questioned.

I know for a fact I am morally superior to you and anyone else that would take so much time to attempt to derail a thread like this one.

Yeah, all charity activists should go pound sand...obviously since 'everyone' donates already, they are not needed.

WTF is wrong with you?

so you were just trolling.

No. I was investigating a link you posted requesting money. Do you think everybody on this board trusts you enough to just donate to some link you post? For all they knew at the time, you could have created a link to your own paypal account in an attempt to scam. Granted you didn't do that, but I think it's a bit naive to not remain vigilant.

It's so cute how you did exactly what I said you would.

Then why do you insist on making a new thread every time you donate something?

I don't make a thread each time I donate. These are my main causes for the week and usually a need that is URGENT in nature.

I donate usually a few times a day. If you count throwing bucks or pocket change into a march of dimes or other box, it could be several times a day.

With 6 pets and a nursing mom/kitten inside and a feral cat colony on my property I am at the pet stores usually 3 times a week or more. Each time I make a donation there as well.

Why are you so bitter about this? What's missing from your life?

You have trolled each one of these posts I have made.

Don't worry about ever checking my 'math', I am beyond the need of it. I will also rarely recommend anything that most of the money doesn't go directly to the item/cause. To many 'charities' end up keeping 90% or more of the donations for 'management'.

I'm not bitter. I've worked in non-profits for the past five years, so I recognize the need for charitable giving. But your sales pitch has a way of putting people off. Bringing people's attention to a worthy cause is admirable; doing it as a way to seem morally superior is not. Every time you create one of these threads, it reads as some sort of self-serving "Here's why I'm better than you" braggadacio, just like when you talk about your car or your income. And that's not doing the charity any favors.

If you really cared about helping the charity, and I believe that you do, I would suggest having a single "Official Charitable Giving" thread that you update regularly with local charities that have a certain need. Don't mention your own involvement or how much you've given; that comes across as self-aggrandizing. Just let people know that there are animal shelters with needs and that they can help out. That's a good deed. Bragging about a charitable donation just makes you look like kind of an ass.

/my two cents
