Any good cover songs you're listening to at the moment?

I've had The Atari's - The Boys of Summer stuck in my head for the last few days...

Good site with cover songs/artist info
http://www.coversproject.com/

Cat Power does an excellent Wonderwall. Plays the song the way it should be played IMO.

I agree, also I have a really short clip of them doing Freebird. Neither one of them are full songs, did they ever do a full cover or are these little snipets all there is?

edit: Oh, I forgot their Knockin on Heaven Door cover they did on Peel Sessions

The best cover of that song definitely belongs to William Shatner, not to mention he beautiful cover of Mr. Tambourine Man... classics :)

Best cover song...
Naked Eyes - There's Always Something There To Remind Me.

I've also heard those cover versions of Boys of Summer - both are mediocre in my opinion,
Don Henley's classic can't be performed better. It's a classic for a reason.

I'm gonna go with what Eli posted, except say all of Metallica - Garage Inc.

Going along with your username, I like Howie Day's version of Radiohead's Karma Police.

Cool to see someone who's heard Howie's stuff. Have you seen him live? I bought Australia two years ago and I finally got to see him live twice last year (I live in the Plains and Howie mainly tours the East Coast). His looping abilities just blow me away. Bunnies is his coolest song IMHO but he's got a lot of potential. We'll see how he does now that he's got a major label helping/hurting him. I think he's in the studio right now recording.

Anyway, off the top of my head:

Hallelujia - Jeff Buckley
All Along the Watchtower - Hendrix (thought I was gonna say DMB didn'tcha!)
Angie - Tori Amos
Spit on a Stranger - Nickel Creek
The Drugs Don't Work - Ben Harper

There are a lot of great covers... those are just a few that stick out in my mind.

Nah.. I've seen him perform on a late night show once (Later with Carson Daily?) and I've downloaded some of his songs. He's a one man show, that's for sure. I'm sure that he'd be great live. Another guy you should check out considering the kind of music that you have listed is Martin Sexton. When I was up visiting a friend in Toronto a couple of years back, we caught one of his shows and he was amazing.

Built to Spill and Mercury Rev have both done an excellent version of Neil Young's Cortez the Killer (I like BtS's version better, though).

Kid Loco remix of Mogwai's Tracy is also an excellent song.

My favorite cover is still Johnny Cash's though.

I didn't know that was a cover.

Most Quiet Riot "hits" were actually songs written by the band Slade.

edit:
Cum on feel the noize and Mama Weer All Crazee Now are Slade covers
