Question, why do people think their so cool when they listen to "underground" music?

While I don't hate "popular" music simply because everyone else likes it, I do find it to be very fabricated and watered down. I have seen very few popular albulms lately that seem to exhibit any sort of talent or musical depth. There are a crapload of completely sh!tty underground bands, but when you find the good ones you realize why everyone thinks they are so cool when they listen to "underground" music.

If you want to try out some of the more obscure bands try some of these, you may like them:

Decemberist - Castaways and Cutouts
Mogwai - Young Team
Sunny Day Real Estate - How it Feels to be Something On
Twilight Singers - Twilight
Wilco - Yankee Foxtrot Hotel
Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West
Múm - Finally We Are No One
Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun
Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada
Jackie O Motherf*cker - Fig. 5
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Mercury Rev - All is in Dream
Death Cab for Cutie - The Photo Albulm

Steve Earle - Jerusalem
Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears (comes out Tue. I think)
ColdPlay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head
Jack Johnson - The Horizon Has Been Defeated
Rhett Miller - The Instigator
Wallflowers - Red Letter Days

Same reason that most AOL users are numb nuts mouse ball fondlers.

people are easily offended here, or just really defensive...eh they must be making up for other things.

I don't really listen to underground music, I was just trying to lead the horse to water. Just because something is more popular, don't assume that there are legitimate reasons for it being better, more likely it's a lot of clever marketing and an over abundence of stupid people. 🙂

my fav of all time is:

linkin park: hybrid theory
everclear: so much for the afterglow
