Good case for a Conroe overclock?

Title says it all. Looking for a case with good cooling, and room for a Scythe Ninja and Antec 550w TP2.0. I haven't decided on a mobo yet, still waiting for the nForce 590 boards to launch.

Oh, and I'm not a fan of plastic, I'd prefer something aluminum.

There are numerous case threads here even one specifically for a case for Conroe build a couple of pages down. Good idea to browse the threads a bit before posting "YACT"... Also good to supply as much detail as possible - perhaps even post a short list of 4 or 5 that we can nitpick for you. But the Silverstone Temjin 5 (SST-TJ05 is one to check out. It comes in lots of versions: with or w/o the digital display/fan control, w/ or w/o window, black or silver. Has a heavy aluminum bezel with a steel chassis - best of both worlds. Newegg doesn't carry all the versions, I think SundialMicro does.

My selection is unfortunately somewhat limited since I live in Canada and Newegg won't ship up here.

I do have access to a fairly decent selection of Lian Li cases (PC-6070B, PC-60B, PC-v1000B Plus II, PC-V600B).

Out of what I can get locally the ones I'm most interested in are:

Lian Li's that DO NOT mount the motherboard upside down. I don't want to get screwed if the 590 board I end up getting has cooling pipes.
NZXT Lexa Classic
Thermalrock Eclipse
Coolermaster Praetorian
Coolermaster Wave Master
Thermaltake Tsunami
Thermaltake Eureka

I'm leaning more towards something with a removable motherboard tray as opposed to a fixed.

The only Temjin I can easily get is a TJ07S and that's way more than I was looking to spend on a case.

The Tt Eclipse is basically an Antec SLK3000-B done in aluminum... I like the Eureka, but it's BIG. One can't find better made cases than the CMs you listed, but you'll have to tweak the cooling (maybe to the point of cutting metal) to bring them up to current standards. Plus they lack modern conveniences inside. Most NZXT are way to blingy for me. Lian Li are also well made but lack modern conveniences until you get up into the high bucks range.

If you can get Enermax there take a look at the Chakra series and the 10182. The Chakras are basically a CM Centurion with a big fan. The 10182 is a server style case. And possibly the Gigabyte Aurora (basically a stretched CM Mystique for the WCing crowd) but can be toned down for ACing. Check the Tt Armor Jr. also. Several other Tt models are based on the same chassis (perhaps the Matrix).

Which end of Canada are you in? (good idea to complete your profile at least with your location and make it public so folks know where you are and don't offer irrelevant advice). Maybe Sundial would ship to you if you are on the west end. And there's a couple of places in PA that might ship there if was worth the hassle for you: Xoxide.com and isitoday.com

I'm in Calgary, pretty far west.

I can get the Aurora locally, and it looks like a solid case. Would the massive side fan on the Chakra interfere with a Scythe Ninja?

Also, modern conveniences?

Toolless, HDD isolation (rubber bushings), etc. LLs are pretty spartan inside relative to many others - about all you get are some thumbscrews. Compare with Silverstone for example. They don't pay a lot of attention to noise on the affordable models either - even a lot of cheap cases don't have a direct path out the front for noise.

I thought the Egg was gonna branch into Can. - whatever happened with that?

Who knows. I've been waiting for a long time for them to start shipping to Canada. Compared to any retailers up here they blow everyone away in terms of the sheer number of parts they carry.

Does the Aurora come recommended?

$1440 Canadian assuming I go with the Aurora. I forgot how fast the numbers spiral upwards.

Most buyers really like the Centurion et al chassis which the Aurora is based on. You could block off one of the 120mm fan holes in the rear and still have lots of cooling when used in Air Cooling mode. You'll have to be the judge in terms of appearance and value for money.

if u can find the thermaltake armor 8003(with the 25cm fan on the side)its'll be the best for overclocking. As that big fan would cool almost all ur mobo.

Any issues with fitting a large heatsink to the CPU? Looks like that fan gets in the way rather easily.

This case is supper awesome for its price me think , found it very easy to install water cooling as its was designed to have dedicated spaces for it and also a internal tool box which is pretty cool.

But you can always go for a expensive case like cool master stacker or sort :)
Thats a nice Case, might ditch my Centurion 5. think its worth it? already have 3 yate loon fans :)

I've sold the gigabyte aurora at the place I work. It seems a bit simplistic to me actually. The features on it seem like alot, but once you start reading reviews, you realize how little "useful" stuff is actually there. (customizeable led projection plate? what for!?) It's also kinda useless unless you decide to watercool.

I live in toronto, and I get my stuff from NCIX, which is in vancouver. They do price matching, and shipping is reasonable. You probably could get stuff for even less.

Anyways, since you don't like plastic cases, the P180 is out the window (my case). The thermalrock eclipse isn't bad, although it's also kinda bland when it comes to "modern conveniences".

If you think the temjin is out of your price range, then don't even consider high end Lian Li's with the mobo trays =P. Why not try dedicate a bit more budget to the case? It's practically the only thing you keep upgrade after upgrade.

Oh and about modern conveniences. They don't actually convenience you unless you REGULARLY open up your case. The first time you build it isn't worth the extra $150 you're paying for it. Tooless assembly is overrated if you ask me. If you have atleast 25 screwdrivers in your house, you shouldn't be building computers anyways. I think i have upwards of 150, but my dad's a mechanical engineer so... =P. The mobo tray is the only thing you should really be looking forward to, but that's still really only if you frequently assemble/disassemble. The drive racks make a nice touch though.

How much emphasis are you putting on silence?
