Yes we do!

Over the years I have found many a beneficial product and / or service by clicking on the ads that are relevant to my interests, and I have Anandtech to thank for introducing me to said prospects.

Thank you Anandtech, thank you. 🙂
Yes, it's where I found my Trumpy Trout. I keep it on my nightstand. I give it a gentle kiss every night before bed and then again first thing when I wake up.

Click 'New' at the top instead of 'Hot' and they are sorted that way.
It doesn't lend itself to multiple people having a single discussion. Everyone steps over each other creating multiple forks until it inevitably devolves into single one on one conversations if anyone cares to dig past a third level.

The thing I don't like is that you're not seeing comments chronologically. They get voted up or down so you have no sense of continuity.

My sense of time is already pretty dodgy so that sort of structure just makes me feel even more . . . I guess 'dissociated' is the best word I can come up with at the moment.

I do see how, with the right sort of audience, it can highlight the most relevant comments. But again, it's the audience that does that - or not. I don't know this for a fact but I suspect that 'relevance' isn't always the main criterion for up-voting something.
And heaven forbid you want to read past 4 or so replies. To see more you click "+" and it takes you to another webpage then another, etc. Its hard to follow a conversation.

Anandtech keeps everything and you can find something from years and years ago as Google indexes almost everything.

Holy crap, you and I are on the save wavelength right now. Maybe its the Bacardi and Coke talking, but trout kissing is right up my alley!

slashdot comments were always like that since the 90s so it's not a new thing, but it does make things harder to follow in some sense than traditional bulletin board sites like this. i'm glad some big forums still use software like phpBB, such as bogleheads.

and at least https://old.reddit.com is still around and lets you go much deeper into comment chains than new reddit does. but i figure it's only a matter of time before they kill old reddit.

It's a different format that is good for certain things but not a forum type discussion. It's good for keeping up on current events related to most any topic that interests you, or for q&a, especially technical troubleshooting q&a.

It doesn't work as an online forum because it doesn't work the way a classical forum should: everyone is supposed to hear everyone else's comments just by being there, and the entire conversation generally moves as one, even if it's just 2 or more gangs stabbing each other in a dark alley.

stopped frequenting the forums because gpus was my jam and Wreckage used to spam his nvidia zealotry all over the place. simpler times.

also, kinda makes sense that guys like Rossman were lurking here. wonder which other big names had their early days in here

The site has been in poor shape for several years. I read Toms Hardware for news (which isn't that great but a lot better than here) and reviews. NI have been reading AT since Anand was in HS. Unlike other sites that just disappeared, at least this one had a goodbye message.

The hopeful scenario for some you guys is that this is basically similar to hockey's future, where the article publishing arm was discontinued but the forums remain active.
Although, hfboards, does allow for members to donate and hockey has a bigger fanbase than computers.

Sorry to hear the news, but if others have similar experiences to mine, this shouldn't be too surprising. I remember first reading the main site around 1999, when I was in college, and new articles were being written several times a day. PCs were getting so much faster all the time, and we were all so excited about trying to stay caught up, as we could buy ecactly what we wanted and make it work our way. That industry is settling down, and we are getting older. My kids are around the age I was when I started here, and while they appreciate having a Dad that can build them a nice gaming machine, they have tablets and phones that do much of what they want. I personally don't have the time to come here, and to the main site, anywhere near like I used to. The site will be missed, but I am thankful it was here for us during a great era in PC Innovations!
