My friend bought a TSX... he didn't even look at the RX8 because it was a Mazda. He's being a dumbass... the RX8 is a better car. Screw the navigation. You're a dork if you buy a car because you "like the navi."

The A4 is a tad out of the price range as are the IS300 and BMW 3-series if they're new. The 6 is nice... but I'd so much rather have an RX8. The WRX is a good choice too but the interior of the RX8 is nicer IMHO. If you just wanna save some $$ but want speed... SRT4.

But the SRT4 is still....a....Dodge. :disgust:

The 6s will offer some nice performance plus a big trunk and a rear seat. Depends on what you want, functionally-speaking, in a car.

I don't know about much, but you should get 1mpg more, maybe 2 if your lucky. The difference isn't as big now as it has been in the past with the "smart" autos nowadays.

That being said, I've never owned a vehicle that wasn't a stick.

The Lexus is about $5000 more than I want to spend.

Audis are nice but by far as unreliable as cars get.

Also to those who can't read the whole thread:

NO MANUAL TRANSMISSION CARS. First, "better mileage" is negligible now with improved efficiency on autos these days. Second, I spend more time stuck in traffic than I do actually driving. Have you ever been in a manual car in rush hour on the 405? It's not fun.

Upper end of budget is $25,000. Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW are nice but out of my price range.

Oh my God!
You drive through that LA traffic everyday!?
I was there a few months ago and drove at 3P to leave from Disneyland to go back up to San Francisco and the traffic was ghastly.
Nothing but cars and brake lights as far as the eye could see... on BOTH sides of traffic to boot.
Hats off to you, sir.

Given this scenario, I would definitely get a hybrid.
I didnt read the article about hydrid vs. diesel and money recoup time, but I would think that the amount of time you spend idling on that LA interstate whatever would swallow gas like crazy. Whereas in a hybrid, you are basically running off of the electic motor/battery when you are sitting in stand still traffic. And the internal combustion engine would only turn on long enough to charge the battery, but would shut off afterwards.
This would thus translate into less miles until you "get your money's worth"
Oh wait. No Prius...

Why not get a GPS and find a way to better navigate the inner roads so that you dont have to drive on that interstate :)
Then you can square yourself in the altima, 6s, accord, and camry range where mileage isnt an issue.
I hear the 6s and the altima are really good deals in terms of bang for buck and reliability.
Cant speak on safety, but if you want safety then go volvo.
The only problem with those autos is that since it gets so hot on those LA interstates, I would imagine the need for a tranny cooler.

How about an Altima w/ a 4-banger under the hood? The interior in that car is CAVERNOUS.

I went to the Nissan site and got immediately sidetracked by the Titan XE Crew Cab.

It fits my budget, mileage be damned. :p

Hahahaha, although I think that's a touch harsh, I feel the same way to an extent...

Sporty + fairly efficient: RSX
Less sporty, nicer, still fairly efficient: TSX
Neato high-tech + ultra-efficient: Prius

Oh, and performance is pretty much meaningless to me. I've long since worked the SPEED RACER urges out of my system. As long as it has enough juice to climb the 2 mile canyon on the way to work I'm fine. I've seen both the Prius and Mini handle it fine.

ROFLMAO.

I like subarus.
Toyotas are great too.

All depends on what you want to do with the vehicle.

Not unless it came with a bumper to bumper 100,000 mile warranty. Been stranded enough times in my GMC Jimmy to try and stay as far away from GM crapola as possible.

my 2k1 Neon has been more mechanically sound than my dads 2000 Maxima.. I am beginning to hate that car, and its not even mine!
