Well I scratched win2k and went with xp. My laptop is pure xp but I dual boot on my desktop just in case. I am one of those guys that has it looking like windows 2000. Why bother you ask? When my kids play on their computer they both have to do it at the same time. WinXp runs all of thier older games like Elmos world without a hitch. Now I don't have to quit everything I am doing, reboot into win98, to get a second computer for them to play thier games. Plus it also plays some of my older games as well. I've only had it installed for a week, but it works great for me.

I will probably can the win2k partition in a few weeks to play it safe and test it out some more.

<< why on earth would you soil a perfectly good rig with ME ? lol, if you were going to go with a tri-boot setup
why not give linux a partion ?
>>

Well I was trying to get 98SE in there, and for some reason it would lock up repeatedly during install.
I finally gave up and tried ME and it would install without any trouble.

In hindsight, I think it may have been a TV tuner that was giving me problems. (I should have just yanked EVERYTHING but the Video card, and tried it again. I was lazy)

To tell you the truth though, I haven't even used it in a LONG time. (I like's my XP! :) )

EDIT: I tried doing a Linux partition once, it KICKED my ass! I never could figure out HOW to set the thing up. (You do house call's right???) ;)

Try downloading FreeBSD 4.5. With FreeBSD you just select the free space in which you want the FreeBSD partition, and tell it to do the partitioning itself (Automatic). It will choose correct (sub-)partition size and everything for the different parts of the OS, and you'll have it up and running in no-time.
