Looks better than a Scion xB, I'll give it that much ;)

Actually, I like how it looks in the front...nice headlights. Saw the demo at the dealer the other day when I got my oil changed...it was the cliche blue color of course. Not bad on the inside.

Congrats, you've just bought a cardboard box on wheels. Albeit's a very roomy and pimp on the inside. I like the suicide doors. :D

Exterior styling is lacking, but having checked out the inside and outside in person, it's pretty cool. :D

Now go buy some 22's while you're at it to take some of those stares away from the lack of styling on the car. :D

IGNORE WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I think this is one of the most unique, useful, and reliable cars.
Good choice! The space is amazing. Perfect for traveling in a group.
I personally think it's a cool car.
I know a guy that owns a car shop, he saw it, and sold his fixed up car
to trade in for it.

For older people, it may not be the car.. but for the 30 and down, I think
this is the car.

before you buy, go take a look at the plastic cladding. Rub your nail over it lightly. It scratches easier than any cladding i have ever seen before. The one at the NAIAS had people's names written in it.

I'd like one myself... tell us how you like it when you get back! ;)

EDIT: oh weak! You can't get the 4WD with a manual transmission in EX or DX! Weak!

Holy crap, they want 20k+ for those things?!?!?!

:Q

I realize the utility in them, but got, it's a massaged CRV with suicide doors!

I just hope you're not planning to do much off-roading with it.

For that price, you could get a lightly used Land Rover Discovery still under Warranty with leather, V8, dual sunroofs, dual AC, very heavy duty ladder-box frame, coil springs, and about every other option known to man, including one of the best 4x4 systems out there.

Just my two cents.

But, to each his own. That's why they make so many different style vehicles.

If you do get it, I hope you enjoy it. :)

Suicide Doors? You mean because there's no B-pillar? Obviously, you haven't done your homework. They are highly reinforced. Honda isn't dumb.

Doors that open from Front to back vs traditional Back to front are called Suicide Doors.

i didn't know that element had suicide doors actually. i thought they were sliding doors.

makes sense i guess. if it were sliding doors it might be mistaken for a minivan so better to go w/ suicide doors. :)

If you really like the square box and are not in a tearing hurry to buy it, I would recommend that you wait for few months and then try to buy them at much cheaper than sticker price. Honda dealers (as usual) are going to gouge you. I personally think the Element is going to be a flop, but hey if you like it then atleast don't buy at sticker price. Once the initial enthusiasm of the dealers of a new vehicle wears off and they realize that it is not going to sell well, they will discount it down a good bit. Then you can make your move. Subaru also learnt this the hard way with their Brat ...

They're no different than similar doors on extended cab pickups and conversion vans. They got the nickname because in the early days of automobiles, if one popped open while you were moving, trying to close it without pulling over would be suicidal.

Actually, that's one of 3 or 4 legends about how they got that name...

That was my impression from seeing pics, though I hadn't actually seen one up close (seen them in the dealerships, but haven't stopped to look).

I would imagine it somewhat annoying to have to open the front doors to get to the rear seats.

The new Dodge Ram 1500 doesn't have suicide doors, even though it has an extended cab.

Ah yes, the Element, Honda's answer to the Aztek. Have to say I would never buy one.

Well....it IS a Honda. And it IS based on the Civic. So underpowered is par for the course :)

Having driven them on test drives I was surprised at the pickup it does have. It's not going to knock you back in your seat but it's peppier than my '96 Sebring convertible for sure. ;)

They need to put the 3.5L from the odyssey under the hood. Better yet, I can't wait until these things are about 15 years old...mullet heads all over will be driving around in Element's with a 7in lift and 36in mudders and all that friggen plastic broken off
