GoldenEye sucked. I'd rather play Doom than GE. I remember watching some friends play it back in the day. Played it for about 10 minutes, realized it had nothing on Quake 2 which I was currently playing, and went back to Q2. 🙂
 
Hello guys, I am apart of the mod Goldeneye Source, I see you guys like our work and we thank you for that.

We have just released some recent media, you may have seen it. Our progress is going really well, and we are expecting to have the mod out within 3-4 months, but its really hard to say at this time. However, we are pushing to get a Beta out for you all to play around with and help with suggestions or comments, and hopefully not find any bugs 😉.

We have just landed a radio station, hosted by http://www.planetholycow.com ( thanks to them ), you can find the link to it on our website. For now it can only hold 50 people, but dont be discouraged to join, the more popular it gets the more we will allow to be on the server at one time.

Glad to have you here and goodluck on the mod.

i haven't played goldeneye since 2001 but dec. 04 me and 4 friends got together and played for old memories. i destroyed everybody(they aren't pc gamers) witht he DD44 and rcp90. Man i still enjoy that game even without a crosshair.

kind of brings a tear to my eye just thinking about all the good times i had with tourneys at chruch camp🙂
 
Im very excited about this mod. I really enjoyed the n64 GE and realize this will not be the same, but should still be great fun.

We're trying to keep the feel the same and the gameplay the same, which is pretty hard to do when converting a game from console to PC, But we've recently had a few deathmatch's within our mod development team, and we seem to have got the feel down quite well, gameplay and pace feels great.

A few of our weapon models are being animated already, and the rest of them should be done shortly, and we will get them in-game as soon as possible.

We are still looking for a quality CG\Concept artist that can supply our character modelers with accurate concepts of the characters we are looking for, and also other media related concepts such as promotional shots.

Well jump wasent in the original, so we have it off by defualt, but the server will be able to turn it on, that way everyone is happy and makes for a much better experience. The ones that want to play classic style can have it off, and those who want more maneuverability can have it on.

But again, its server side not client side.

Oh, I TOTALLY agree, Goldeneye sucked MAJOR ass! But I think it came out around Quake III and UT timeframe. I remember because I was playing UT and all this hype was surrounding Goldeye so I said, what the hell, let me check it out. Um, yeah, you just don't go from UT to Goldeneye. The experience was horrible for me. Just a bad game compared to other FPS games.
 
I grew up in the boonies and where they just got high speed internet in the past year. So Goldeneye ROCKED as far as multiplayer.

since when do guys with guns ever jump? Now that'd make all other games lame if you ask me. I bet you were one of the guys that couldn't handle it and got owned real quick and then gave up on it without giving it a true shot but whatever, you'll just reply that you did give it a lot of time and just don't like it when you're just hating it to be a hater.

IF this game does happen, I hope they don't make it lame where its just CS with Goldeneye looking guns and characters. The body armor and the ability to take hits and stay alive kept it interesting, there's too many 1 shot kill games these days, that's what golden gun mode is for.

But then all the other Bond games have failed to recreate the magic, it seems strange that Rare (or whats left of it since they went to Microsoft) hasn't hurried along with another Perfect Dark (although it seems too late now for the XBox, and would be more fitting as an XBox2 title), heck Microsoft needs to buy the Bond liscense to give it back to those guys if only to make a near direct port with updated graphics.

Although "Source" generally does mean just that, same solid game play (perhaps tweaked but not changed for the worse) and sweet updated graphics.

It's so easy to point out the idiocy of this post that I'm astonished nobody else noticed. You said you'd rather play Doom over Goldeneye and complain about not jumping, then say it must be the only FPS without jumping. Doom didn't have jumping!

Plus, who cares? Jumping is more often than not worthless.

We are going to be tweaking the hit detection rate alot to suit the original better, that way you stay alive a little longer like the original.

There was a promising looking Chrono Trigger remake being created that was completely shut down by Square Enix.

We do think about it from time to time, we are aware of the copyright's, but we feel that RARE\EA\MGM will not shut us down. Why? well because they do not have any reason to do so, goldeneye isnt for sell anymore on the market, and either is the system it was made for. They also are not making a 2nd goldeneye, and even if they were, we are just recreating the original one, but with better graphics\gameplay ect. Alot of companys don't care if the community makes mod's of products, idea's ect., as long as they do not make a profit off of it in any way.

We do however give full credit to RAREWARE and MGM
