Goldeneye Source! :o

looks cool I suppose.... I would really like to see a slower moving MOD for the source engine, maybe like a splinter cell type of spy game.

As much as I want this to happen, I almost guarantee it will be shut down... similarly to Duke3d's port.

yay! I love Goldeneye. Our tech teacher back in high school was cool and let us play 4-way on the main tv all the time.

Now I just need to get HL2...

Same here, my general technology teacher used to let us bring an N64 to class. During lunch hour and in class on fridays we used to play goldeneye, WCW: Revenge, and lots of fighting games and sports games. Not to mention we also played Diablo 1, Quake, and Starcraft over the lan 🙂

Too bad Goldeneye sucks balls. I'd rather play Doom than Goldeneye, and Goldeneye came out about the same time as Quake 2.

You can stand on a catwalk with no rails, and can't walk off onto the floor? Fvcking lame. It's gotta be the only FPS ever made without jumping.

Apparently you guys missed the Half-Life Goldeneye mod. It wasn't so good.

Maybe so. But GE was probasbly my favorite game for N64. If this can come even close to as good as GE was I think it will be sweet.

Not necessarily, as long as they don't try to make money off the mod there's a good chance nothing will happen. Generally companies don't care about mods if you don't try to make money, but once you try to make money off it then they will get involved. Even Microsoft who guards their stuff very jealousy is allowing something similar with their Mechwarrior license because the group making the mod is not going to be making money off it. Of course that doesn't mean some companies will not let them though.

They're mimicking copyrighted material. That's all there is to it, if the company wants to flex their muscle, they can and will win. It's not about money. The Duke Mod wasnt going to cost anything but 3d Realms didnt want their stuff used elsewhere. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/news.php?aid=6412

Has potential, but it's not the same experience with keyboard/mouse and on your PC instead of 4 guys gathered around an N64/TV. So... I wonder if this is just another DM but with different guns/art.

I prefer keyboard/mouse for my FPS but that's not the way Goldeneye was. I don't see how it can possibly play the same, or even close.
