Has anyone figured out what the deal is with this, umm, deal? I can't find a "gold box" anywhere on their site, and I am logged in. I even went to my account page and there is nothing, no mention of it anywhere. Maybe this is only for certain customers? (Like the ones who've spent more than $500 at Amazon...wait, I have, so what gives???)

I'm not quite sure how not being able to see this gold box makes us lazy, but I believe that text is from the link that someone had given earlier, which I did check out. I read that page and have looked in all the departments I normally shop, but I am not seeing this thing. I guess I'll just give up since I'm not smart enough to find it.

Fritzo Shipping is always free on orders over $100. Maybe you live in Uzbekistan?

It said it didn't qualify for free shipping (some of their larger items like TV's and large appliances are like that).

I think it was $20-$30 off Amazon's price. I'm actually looking for an mp3 player, but interested in a tiny one I can take to the gym (i.e. MPIO-DMG).

POS gave me the gold box, but when I clicked on it, and continued after reading the conditions, the damn thing gave me some vague error (even with a crappy gold box sitting to the left of it... designed just for that purpose). WTF is with that?

*edit* If this happens to you, click on the T & C Link above and then continue shopping. It'll throw you back into your deals. You Amazon page will not have the gold box deal icon. This is the only way I've found to get back.

Interesting... if I'm reading the T's and C's correctly, you can only buy one Gold Box item a day, and once you pass one up you can't go back to it. That means you can't check out all five before deciding.

I was offered those 4 nd another as well. Was thinking about jumping on the camera as I am looking for one but ebay's flooded with them for around $20-$30 less :Q

PEOPLE THAT DON'T SEE IT: Don't feel bad. It's not showing up for everyone. You have to have a purchasing history established, and then they give you a chest at different times. For example, I had one yesterday, but I don't today.

This Gold Box thing has potential! Here's the idea. Amazon data mines everything that you look at. They profile you and then try to sell you the same thing later by featuring it on their homepage when you return, in the sidebars of the page when you are looking at other things. Why wouldn't this Gold Box thing be any different? Here's what you do. Find several items that you like then close down your browser and clear your cookies. Open your browser back up and then go directly to those items. At this point, your Amazon cookie will start regenerating and you won't be logged into Amazon. Now in order to get those items most likely to appear in your Gold Box, you'll need to register for a new account. Most of us have multiple accounts already... this will increase the probability that the items will appear in your Gold Box, rather than other things you have looked at in the past. You may have to wait a day for the items that you looked at to appear in your Gold Box. Remember, only look at the items you want to increase the odds, and remember you can use a coupon too! Be sure to post what you score if this technique works for you!

I checked back today and got a gold box this time around... nothing good though (rice cooker, carpet cleaner, wine chiller etc...); not sure why it is giving me all housewares as I have never purchased anything near that category from them. Oh well, has potential to be good.
